Dish size etc. in Clare

I live in Clare and have been using the old Lidl comag system for a couple of years. Every time it rains, or if it is a bit windy I loose the signal. I am assuming it is because the original dish is too small.

Anybody know what size I should use?
Where is a good place to buy?
Is there a better LNB I should get?

Finally, how important is the pole alignment, i.e. does it have to be perfectly perpendicular (I'm not using the original bracket as it caused problems with roof overhang and dish alingment - I'm using a heavy aerial pole)

    Thanks

what satellite are you aligned to? Pole alignment is not critical for a single lnb set up as long as you correct the lnb skew to compensate.

    Larger.

Satellite TV specialist. I.e. not a supermarket.

Better than what? You'll need a universal LNB. On a dish smaller than 1.5m the LNB choice really doesn't matter. Just make sure it's designed for the dish shape and f/d ratio.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed that it was obvious when I said I had the origianl Lidl system what system I had. But let me be very clear then.

The dish is 90cm. The LNB is the one that was supplied but there is no information I can see on it to tell you more.

Maybe now you can provide a more helpful reply;)

Funny comment from you about where to buy. I had been looking in car showrooms and shoe shops for weeks and wondered why I saw none for sale. (However, Lidl is a supermarket and many on this forum got their dishes from such a place, so maybe you need to re-think your advice not to buy from a supermarket?)

But to be serious, I realise that a TV specialist is a better place, and so are electrical suppliers such as Maplin. My question (did you really think I didn't know what type of place sells sat dishes?) was meant to suggest that out of all of the sellers of sat dishes in Ireland and throughout the world, does anybody on this list have any suggestions as to which are the best suppliers. Should I buy through ebay and have one sent from USA or England. Would the quality be better, would the price be less etc.

Anyway I'll try and be clearer in future. Keep up the funny stuff.:D:D

It's pointing to Astra 2 getting FTA BBC1-4, ITV1-4, Film 4, English Al Jazeera, BBC 24, CNN, and lots of other stuff. Also FTA radio stations such as BBC 4 FM. I'm not sure if it's 2D or some other one.

I saw on a website that the footprint of 2D means that we need a 60cm dish in Clare. But I'm sure this can't be right.

    Any advice greatly received.
