Proposal for Legal Recognition of same-sex couples

I see in todays Irish Times that this item is on the political agenda again.

Assuming it gets through this time, will it in effect cater for co-habiting couples as well or will it create a 3 tier system
    1 Married not-same sex couples.
    2 Registered same-sex couples.

3 Co-habiting not-same sex couples, who will, from a tax and legal perpective, continue to be strangers at law.

My question is driven by us having a daughter is the last category, with child and partner......we are wondering will the new proposals 'help' them?
    Thanks.

So category 3 persons live in sin? They should pay more tax, the dirty jezza-belle's! :)

Fair point all the same. I can't see this being cleared up despite the Zappone Gilligan case etc. I've not looked into the proposals in detail but can see fundamental shifts to that end, it would be like a windfall budget.

This item really does need to be dealt with and post haste.
