Play.com and Import Duty

    Just wondering if anybody knows what the cut off price is for buying stuff from Play without having to pay import duty...

    no import duty at all as far as i'm aware as it's from the UK

    Isle of Main hence not part of EU and due to this import tax. Anyway as I recall low 20s (23 or 25 euro or in that area.

    Jersey, not Isle of Man. I think €25 is the limit, or €45 if it's a gift, though marking gift makes no real difference as Customs can inspect anyway.

    It's rare that anything from Play.com gets checked. There was a guy a few weeks back said he had a friend who's Rome boxset was stopped and the price went from about €60 to over €75 when taking VAT/duty into account. That's the first time I've heard of it. It's likely that the high price stood out.

    Bought loads of stuff from play and never had any issues. If something hasnt arrived within 21 days a quick email and they will resend the product. All games for PS3 and wii are over the limit but like I said had no issues.
    They are the best site in my opinion for games and dvds.
