eBay problem

Ok so my brother wanted me to buy some things for him on eBay and use my account for it. He handed me the cash so I said no problem.

So we ordered the 3 items from the one seller and including shipping it came to about 1000 euro. They wanted to be paid through www.bidpay.com rather than paypal so I though no problem there.

All the time the seller kept very good e-mail contact with me

So I made the payment and now here we are 2 weeks later and the person hasn't shipped the items and has stopped returing my e-mails.

So what are my options about sorting this out for my brother to get his money back. Contact bidpay obviously. Is it worth ringing my credit card people and seeing what they can do?

This has never happened to me before as I am very anal about who I will buy from on eBay. Any help appreciated

Try the Bix > Consumer > Online Buying & Auctions forum.

You might get more focussed advice there.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=bidpay+scam&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

    Bidpay = Western Union.

Good luck trying to get your money back off those guys.

Can you link to the seller?

The bidpay scams seem to be on sellers rather than buyers, just from scanning that linked google page.

Also your seller hasnt left any feedback since 11th October, nor received any from the 17th. Sounds to me like hes not been following up his ebay for the last few weeks. Could be any kind of innocent reason, like holidays.

Im not sure how you stand vis a vis bidpay, but it might not hurt to open an ebay dispute on this. If he is kosher, it might spur him into sending your stuff.

If you have been scammed, my sympathies, it wont hurt to phone you cc company to see what they say in any case.

You see it wont cost me a cent as I have paid the CC bill already but I will be gutted for my brother as he is a student at the moment and 1000 euro is a lot of fcuking hard earned money.

Yeah I cant understand it, the seller was really good at keeping in contact. I never once got the vibe that I would be stung.

Will do some more investigating into it tonight

Is this related, do you think?

He hasn't left any feedback since 11th October for anyone.
Maybe he is ill or on holiday.

You can get his contact details from eBay and phone him

    That's them alright above

I might try and contact them through eBay and ask them what the hold up is.

Even on holidays you can get net access and answer e-mails though

If thats their website, you could try the phone number.

Funnily enough, that website I linked offers paypal, not bidpay as an option?

File a complaint with Ebay. I did it a couple of times with slow sellers and got a rapid response.

Lots of stuff online about it, like this. Perhaps you can track them down and see if thats the cause.

It doesn't matter that you've paid the CC Bill.
Ring CC company straight away and initiate a chargeback.

i find a good rule to follow on ebay is no paypal=no sale.

i am instantly suspicious of people not using it

I think the seller will probably make good on the purchase you made, this doesn't have the usual scam type of vibe about it somehow...try contacting them using their own website, but there are some valid reasons (like the fires) that could be slowing his response to you.

Hey folks how does one contact ebay and file a complaint??

You have to go through the help pages and find the right subject for your complaint. I think they deliberately make it difficult so as to deter all but the most determined. If you go to help and enter "report seller" or something similar it should lead you in the right direction.

Cool I'll give it a shot

It says everywhere all over eBay on all the messages you get from sellers and buyers not to use Western Union! PayPal is the only real secure method.

Your only course of action is the Garda bring in all the information you have on this guy including the Western Union Bidpay stuff and get them to investigate. They have an internet crime unit believe it or not!

A friend of mine in the UK did it and they managed to get Western Union to release the guys info and the US police paid the guy a visit and recovered the funds.

Long and messy but hey its a grand !

If you paid Bidpay on your CC ring Visa and ask them to to a chargeback
that will work 100% and you will get your money back
