Having read the thread, the tone of the post was shill like and as its turns out the poster was working for a mobile phone operator and attempted to hide the fact by claiming that the information had come from a friend. I fell that the ban was legitimate and support the moderators who imposed that forum ban and the site ban. We work very hard to keep the site clean of spam and shilling and have a no tolerance stance on this.

The forum rules clearly state that if you are providing information and you work for an phone operator you must let users know so that a decision can be made about potential bias, this was not done and so the user got a forum ban. (Having a statement in your sig does not adequately cover this as a sig can be easily changed - making a post saying your work for an operator and having a note in your sig is perhaps the best method - as you have done now - If you claim to be posting on behalf of a company, you must come to me or one of the other admins, so that we can confirm your identity).

After your explanation, the moderator suggested that a new account be created if the gidget16 was trying to help, this seems to be a reasonable compromise as the gidget16 account has one post, broke the forum rules and tried to conceal their identity and has done some damage to their credibility in some eyes. Assuming this person does re-register and clearly does not flaunt the fact that they are a returning banned user, it is likely that they will be become a valuable addition to the forum - which is something we cherish however the shill site ban will stand.
