I know RTE took a weeks break and have now shown episode 5, but there's nothing on tonight.

Sky One have shown episode 4 and not shown anything for 2 weeks. They return on Monday with one episode.

It seems a bit messy. I haven't seen 5 yet but prefer watching on RTE, will sky catch up to allow me to continue watching on RTE?

those are air dates from the US, think the OP is watching it on terrestrial tv, so should have a double episode the next day RTE show it after that.

RTE are 3 days behind the States. This week, in America, there was no Prison Break so, as a result, RTE couldn't show a new episode.
Next week, in America, they're showing two episodes in a double bill. So therefore RTE, next week, can show a double bill.
They can't go ahead of the US so this is why we're being made wait.

American TV generally is messy in that it can come in fits and starts. It can have mid-season (even mid-mid-season) breaks and you get new episodes every once in a while, rather than once a week. Since we traditionally received a full season from the US once it had aired over there, we were able to watch episodes at regular intervals with the odd break for Christmas or other such occasions.

Now that RTÉ, Sky, C4 et al. are willing to pay more to get the "top dramas from the states" a great deal quicker than before, we'll end up waiting around while the American stations take a break to watch baseball, or the Super Bowl, or something else. Even the channels that don't show those things tend to take a break (show a repeat) so they don't have to compete with those events.

That should be it yes. Looks like there'll be no episode the following week though (no episode on Nov 12th in US). Goddamn Fox and their fcuked up schedules.

In fairness it isn't fox fault. II's a general issue for all stations. How do you get shows which where only 22-25 episodes can be made per year to fit into a tv schedule that last around 36 weeks. Something has to give

why not just show one episode a week for 24 weeks? then air another show for 24 weeks then you have 4 weeks so you can miss 2 weeks from each show for whatever moronic reason like god/sports/thanksgiving

Well while I would like that the problem they have with doing that is that there are certain point in tv year where all the stations want to show their best shows mainly september, february and may because that is when they make their most money and get their best ratings so they have to stretch it out in between

How confused are people going to become in the next few months when all the US shows vanish abruptly due to the WGA strike...
