The Picture quality on those sets is appalling , be warned , they are not worth half the money they are asking for them.

Xtravision had them on show for a while , truly truly brutal picture , no matter what source.

I got it from Misco for about 460 E and am very happy with picture quality etc. Takes a bit of tweaking as the defaults don't do the set justice. Don't have HD so can't comment on that.
Can't fault Mirai's service either as the unit needed to be replaced due to a sound fault which they did without any quibble.

The picture quality may well have been appaling mathias, but it all depends how the set was hooked up in xtravision - and to what.

Like morgana, I ordered from misco - delivery within 48 hours. The set is fine - no problem with picture quality. One thing people need to remember, if your viewing analog tv on LCD sets, theres not going to be any improvement. They will only come into their own as HD comes onstream.

I'm very happy with the purchase and theres a three year pickup and return warranty - which they have confirmed they will honour in Ireland.

I think this is a good purchase - will stick with this one until things settle down with the new tvs coming out. When the quality has improved to 1080p standard and price has dropped in 18 months or so, will invest in a 42" and move the Mirai upstairs.
BTW, in case anyone wants to follow suit, I don't think misco are stocking this particular 32" anymore. I think the one they have now has DVB-T tuner built in...but check the site yourselves. This set has been reviewed at length on avforum.com. On the whole, feedback has been positive - bearing in mind the 450 euro pricetag.

i was only getting this as a 2nd tv, and again its the 3yr warranty that is a huge plus for it

I have some experience comparing sets , and my view on this set has nothing to do with how it was set up in store ,

Ive said it before , Flat panels are not at the stage where everyone makes good sets , and Mirai do not make good sets ,

Its got nothing to do with how it was set up in the shop , and everything to do with the quality of the parts , this set in no way stands up quality wise or picture wise when compared to the equivalent panasonic , samsung , sharp , etc. which can be had for very little more money.

Thats what made me decide to go for it too. No probem with the warranty here in Ireland either, as I mentioned, my original set needed replacement which was no hassle at all (apart from having to wait about 2 weeks for new stock to come in, it didn' t bother me as the set was still usable)

My 32" Mirai isn't as clear as the 26" Samsung or 27" toshiba back home.
Seems to get better when warmed up but not the greatest image in the world.
I've been playing around with the inputs and it helped a bit but not much.

I was under no illusions that I was going to get "state of the art" for the price I paid so not too put out.

tbh when do you ever see a GOOD picture on a TV in a shop?

I have never understood why you go into Dixons or wherever, and the TV's are running off a ****ty aeriel signal and they haven't been tuned in properly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,728 ✭✭✭brightkane

i think it will do the job as a 2nd TV. If I pay more i get better quality. But for that price I can take a hit on quality, again as its a 2nd TV.

I wouldnt touch one of there TV's, for an extra 200 or so you will pick up a reputable brand name tv with far superior picture quality.

I bought one and am now regretting it! Would extravision take this back if told them I wasn't satisfied with quality i wonder.

What exactly is wrong with it? If you read through the Mirai thread on avforums (all 90 odd pages of it), you'll see that if you can articulate whats wrong with it, Mirai will honour the warranty straight off and swap it out for another.
By and large you do get what you pay for but understand that you can still buy brand and get rubbish at times. And that 200 extra you suggest paying for a 'brand' should really be 300 as you paid over 100 too much for yours in the first place.

    Hey all,

Irish ebay seller is selling these for €549.

I emailed him and he said he would do it for €529 collected and for cash. He will provide a full receit and invoice.

Seems not to bad for buying in Ireland and the unit has a 3yr collect and return warranty which does extend to Ireland.

Anyone get one when Misco were selling them and any opinions?

Panasonic and JVC both offer 5 year warranties at the moment, if set is bought in a shop (not online).

I bought a Mirai 32" tv this time last year. Once I tweaked the display settings, I found the picture to be brilliant on it. Everyone that comes into our sitting room when the tv is on comments on how good it looks.

Obviously in shops the picture can look bad because its not set up properly. But the true test is when you get it home and tweak it to get the best picture. And as others have mentioned, over on avforums there are long threads with by and large very happy Mirai owners. I know I looked through all of that last year and it was the reviews from actual owners that swayed me. I don't think it is that useful to listen to ppl who have just seen a tv in a shop and say the picture is rubbish.

In fact if I remember correctly, the Mirai tvs are built in the same factory as Sony and Samsung tvs! I know for sure that my Mirai tv uses a Sony remote code on our Sky box.

I would reccommend a Mirai tv to anyone.

Any shop that are agents for these brands.

It's applicable only to certain models, and promotion ends at the end of November.

    Check the site.

I also have the mirai hdtv that was on offer in xtra-vision a while back, and agree with your review wooo232....

Its a very good tv and has great picture quality when you play something that tests it,like playing hd videos off your pc and sky hd....Like nearly all hdtv's it can look **** when watching rte, dvds and such on it,but even €5000 full hd sets look **** when just playing standard dvds on them....

I got it for €679 a year back and thought it was a bargain,at €529 you cant go wrong imo...Im playing Timshift on my xps710 on it at the moment and its class....

It' s hard to say the Panasonic warranty is strictly "Free" - They're about €200 dearer than online - maybe 150 if you factor in delivery costs but prob worth it for peace of mind

Does anybody know how does the 3 yr warranty offered by amazon.co.uk works for Irish addresses. I don't see anything in the terms and conditions about it
Sony KDL32D3000 with 3 yr warranty is tempting if the warranty works

Sorry can't post a link - just search amazon.co.uk for Sony KDL32D3000 to see ref to 3 yr warranty and terms and conditions

Don't know about that TV but when buying my Mirai, I got them to confirm validity of warranty when buying from uk based e-tailer (misco.co.uk) before purchase.
Probably best to get confirmation from the vendor or manufacturer first. pop them a mail.

Yeah Mirai honour the warranty here. Bought the TV at the same place as yourself, it was faulty when I got it and Mirai sent me out the newer model as a replacement (DTL-632E500) so very pleased with it.

Ooops! - Forget about Amazon - I just spotted the delivery restrictions - "This item can only be delivered within the UK" - mainlannd UK at that - not even N.I.

Back to thinking about the Panasonic w 5 yr again

might be worth a punt for a wall mounted bedroom tv afterall then!
