I need a new practise amp, and I'm torn between a Roland Microcube and a Line 6 Spider III 15.

    Which would you guys recommend?

It depends what your looking for.
They cost the same (€99 + 15 from Thomann), cube has 2 watts and a "5" (which is to say 4) inch speaker while the Line6 has 15 watts and an 8 (?) inch speaker. Cube is small and can run on batteries. Line 6 is quite big. IMHO (must be careful what I say here ) the Cube's weak link is the small speaker.
Cube unquestionably sounds good at low home volumes. I played the Line 6 in a noisy shop and I couldn't form a real opinion on how it sounds.

Also for the same price you have the Vox DA5 which is a direct competitor to the 'cube but came later so has addressed some of the cube's issues (larger speaker etc)

EDIT: anyway for 114 yoyos I dont think you'd go wrong with any of them. Try them out and see how they suit you.

Roland Cube 15w....i would not swap it for any practice amp at this stage.
    More than loud enough......

Strong build, easy controls, 4 distortion/overdrives....nice and compact.
    €99 from Thomann.de

    Nuff said.

I'm going to suggest the Spider, just to mix things up. ;)

Mix away man.....he probably can't go wrong with either.....
    Does that settle that.

It's not as if he is recording a record at Geffen....just the bedroom.
