Does anyone know if there are any of these in Ireland? Just curious, they are my favourite Ferrari. This was the first car I lusted after as a nipper (pretty good taste I think, considering the Testarossa was more 'dramatic' looking!)

Back around 2001 I saw one travelling through the city on the back of a trailer hauled by a very tatty looking van.

I presume it was Eddie Irvines but there may be more knocking about. (I think the Swerve sold his. I always credited the guy with brains cos he had that car)

Best looking Ferrari of the last 30 years IMO...

    Always loved the shape, too.

I'm with you 1 gazillin percent, its the perfect compromise fo rme, 308/328 looks, but butch-er and F40 type performance.... it was built to go Group B racing. Irvines was well used and well abused....

Yes, sweeet, always loved the 288, but my F car path will be 308 - testarossa - F40... I have given myself 5 years.
Have only ever seen 1 in the flesh, but it was beside an F40, so I got a good chance to compare.

Yeah loved the 288GTO ever since as a young kid I had a book that I bought in the airport before going on holidays. I couldn't believe its performance figures !!

Also in that book was the 208 GTB Turbo ...........similar performance to the 308 !

I primarily remember the 288 GTO looking stonking in a Car magazine photoshoot in the early 80s with the Pennine Sands in Wales(?)as the backdrop. So good, i think it became one of the magazine's better known posters.

I might have that book mercmad....

I always wondered about the 208, it was built for the Italian market as over 2 litres they had rediculous taxes in the 80s, BMW did something similar with the 320is... a shorter stroke than the 2.3 M3 engine.... both left hookers only of course...

apparently this is why Lancia never upped the capacity of the delta

    Alfa also had a 2.0 turbocharged V6, giving 200bhp.
