justice? 3 years for pissing on someone and covering them in shaving foam?

Agreed. The guy is a lowlife, but three years is way too heavy a sentence.

    Christ, he looks scummy...

I think its more the fact that she died

Yeah but he didn't kill her... he just saw someone passed out and p*ssed on her. Not the same thing.

He's a filthy scumbag, but I'm not sure 3 years in prison is warranted... possibly though.

Well obviously, if he had killed her I imagine the sentence would be much higher. I imagine the argument is that he not only didn't help her, but his actions prevented others from helping her.

3 years of prison sounds about right to me.

Why should someone get away with any less for such a horrible act?

The trouble is that scummers do get away with much worse stuff than this. If 3 years is too much, what sentence is enough. Would 40 hours community service change this guys attitude,I don't think so.Unfortunatly for us in Ireland, thats what he'd have probably been given. Only real punishment makes scummers like this fella think before they act, if we dished out sentences like this here in Ireland we'd have a lot less apprentice gun men on the way.

so basically what you're saying is, if you happen to walk by a drunk that's unconscious on the street and a security camera catches you looking at them, you'd be happy to be arrested and charged with attempted murder because you didn't stop to make sure they were ok?

he pissed on her, and poured shaving foam on her. he had no way of knowing she was dieing, or that she was anything other than the probable thousands of people passed out on the streets that night.

No, I'm saying I'm happy this guy got sent away for basically being scum. He didn't get locked up because the lady died,he got locked up on the crime of 'outraging public decency' which we could also call 'treating another human being like a piece of ****'. Her death has nothing to do with it. TBH,even if the woman hadn't died i still think the sentence was justified. It's really all down to what you deem as acceptable to inflict on another person, whether they be asleep or awake.I suppose the only way you can decide if the sentence was justified is to imagine it was you on the ground, being pissed on and filmed for youtube, personally if it was me as the victim,I'd probably not rest on till I got my hands on him,but I could happily wait 3 years.

I have to disagree with the Op here. 3 years for this is completely unwarranted. Sure the guy is a gob****e who probably thought he was hilarious at the time and he deserves to be punished. The form of this punishment should be a fine, and/or community services of some description. If he kicked her head in, and she needed multiple stitches or something, well then the 3 years would be fully justified, but not in this case. This crime was more about stupidity than anything.

Well he was under no obligation to help her and how exactly did he prevent help?

Tbh, I'm not that bothered with the sentence. Imagine what kind of lack of respect for another person you need to piss on someone passed out. Although is it worth the taxpayer paying for his lodgings for 3 years?

Surely what he did amounts to assault? Aggravated assault? Sounds like they went for charge carrying a higher sentence though. If he didn't have previous, 3 years seems tough to me (after some reflection). The first impulse is to think 'good enough for him'; especially with his ugly-@ss mug posted right there alongside the text.
