Anyone know on what grounds you can appeal a post of responsibility selection/interview result?

To appeal a decision you have to prove the selection of any successful candidate(s) did not adhere to the stated criteria :
    • capacity of the individual to meet the needs of the school - 50%
    • service - 30%
    • Experience of a professional nature in the field of education and involvement in the school - 20%

You are entitled to see the marking sheet for the interviews. If you feel marks were not awarded according to the agreed criteria you can appeal.

I presume inappropriate and discriminatory questions in an interview 'and sure how do you think you will manage the extra work and you with babies at home to take care of?' type questions would be automatic grounds for appeal too.

What about gender balance on the board according to cl PPT 13/02 section 2.2, aren't boards meant to be representative or else it could be a Fr Ted style of lovely girls contest?
I would love to see the sheets as I don't know where they came to on their sheets, as in why 17 and not 18 etc!!

Yes there is supposed to be at least one woman on a board - I say woman as they never seem to have a shortage of men sitting around with nothing better to do than do interviews ;)

They are usually quite careful about that sort of thing as if the panel is not properly made up, then it and all its decisions are invalid.

Now thats what I wanted to hear, board had 3 men and principal was also male.

By the way, I presume that is not really you in the photo Spurious?

LOL - no, mine is too horrific - that's our Principal*.

*eek not really...in case anyone ever sees this.
It's the ever glamorous Jude Kuring, Noeline Burke in 'Prisoner - Cell Block H'.

All male (or all female) board is definitely grounds for appeal as I understand it.

Does anyone know if you can ask for notes written about you in an interview?
