Gallery I visited, and seeing shots in print

I'm just back from a few days away in Clonakilty (ahhhhhh......) and popped into mike brown's gallery while I was down there. Some beautiful stuff (along with some tourist favourites). I especially like the one of the terns on the main page. What a shallow depth of field! I wonder if its artificial - the birds are so clear.

Anyway, it struck me how much more of an impact his shots had seeing them properly printed and mounted. So many of them reminded me of work I see here (the puffins, the long water exposures, the fox, the flower macros..). And the prices matched. I'm just wondering how many of you have had large (A3+ I suppose) prints done of your work.

I had lots done for people and sold quite a few. 18x12 or A3 really does a good picture justice

I got quite a few of my ones to 18x12" and one to 30x20". And yep, they do indeed look better framed.

i had one printed to about 40" x 24" once, on canvas. it looked good, from what i could see through the bubblewrap - it was one i sold through a gallery, and it'd have been too much hassle to take the bubblewrap off and then try to rewrap it.

tut tut sinead... while you were there you should have went down to the gallery in Kinsale to see some of my prints :D

I had a section of a print done about 4' long for the gallery but it's not hanging there yet. Quite impressive. Biggest I've ever printed myself is 30x20" and that was quite a nice thing to see too!

and you should have met up with us in the Oak. Or maybe not. Nice spot... lovely crowd... ahem... Warlords of pez were playing upstairs though.

I've decided I'm gonna get some large prints done, just to see. Actually, there's another post...

believe me you didn't miss much. Although the fight next to the toilets where one drunken guy tried to strangle another drunken guy was mildly entertaining.
