€3000 a case. if you could resist temptation and lock it away for say ten - fifteen years, would it prove likely to be a good investment .

Looking at the above they seem to be looking at a limited release each year, or am i picking this up wrong

For comparisons sake, how many cases of Middleton are produced each year.

    What's peoples opinions?

I believe they were originally going to sell this at €120 to €150 per bottle, but then decided to slap another €100 onto the price tag.

For your guide, the Jameson 15 Millennium was originally sold for €95 and is now sold in Ireland (if you can get it) for about €250.

I think these will have a year on every release, so it would be worth keeping one from each year.

Wonder will the have it in Duty Free in Dublin by the start of Jan.. Because I know live outside the EU I would hope to get it a bit cheaper.. 18yo is only 72€ for me (tho i did pick it up in Schipol for 51€!!!)

And now it's listed at the Celtic Whiskey Shop for €399.99.

At least the Millennium was a pure pot still. The Vintage Reserve is a blend, and its components are not as aged as one might wish, given the price.

Yeah, I was talking to them in the Celtic Whiskey Shop and they told me it would be nearly €400. Outrageous, considering they can sell it for hundreds less. I would buy it for 250, but not 400.

I bit the bullet and bought a bottle.. cost me 320 when going through duty free to Oslo.. Now i need to lock it away for a while. The case is extremely well finished, think the Middleton one, except bigger and plusher.

When i bought it, they had to take it out of the case and the lady at the desk, put 4 of those foam wrapper things around the bottle to be sure. I have never minded something so much in my life.

The Midleton 25s and 26s took about seven or eight years to go up in value, and I suspect this might be the same. They'll be on the shelves for a long time. €320 is a good price, though. €400 in Dublin, as you know.

We will see.. never know, i might loose the run of myself and actually drink it myself

Well, you got it for below the retail price, so you've got a head start. And the premium whiskey thing has really taken off over the last few years, so that's another advantage. I will be getting a bottle myself at some stage, I think.

Seems like the duty free route is the best way to go.. only thing is you have to go outside the EU to get it at 320... otherwise its 400

Had the good fortune to have a glass of this last month, fantastic stuff. The beautiful finish of the 18yo with a more robust flavourful initial presence on the palate akin to the 12yo.
