Face/Eye protection for over spectacles

Hey guys, now that the main piece of kit has been secured, it's time to start gathering up some other essentials.

I've been trawling through sites looking at various types of face/eye protection, and one thing I've found missing from reviews is whether the items will fit comfortably over prescription glasses.

Do any of you guys wear glasses under your face protection? How is the fit? Are there any particular types that you would recommend over others?

Like most people who wear glasses, I often have to readjust their position (sliding down the nose). It could be awkward (not to mention dangerous) to have to keep removing face protection to adjust glasses, so I could use a little advice as to what the best option is here.

And no, contacts are not an option! :p

I wear glasses myself. They used to slide down my nose as well until I found out that any optician can fix it in about 30 seconds (usually for free) by adjusting the shape of the pieces that go over the ear. I'd get that done first. I also can't wear contact lenses...shame as they would be perfect for airsoft.

As for face protection, most full masks are fine with glasses. I'm not too sure about goggles though as I don't use them, but I do have a cheap pair that work fine. Also, some glasses are bigger than others, so that might have an effect.

as rabbit said, if your glasses keep slipping it means they are not fitted correctly

i have a scott full mask with goggles that i occasionally wear, glasses fit under them fine, can be a bit awkward getting them on sometimes (still havent decided if its easier to put the glasses on first then pull the mask on or put the glasses into the goggles and put them on)

fortunately my eyesight isnt too bad so i can comfortable play without prescription glasses

I play without my glasses. Gives a good excuse for the blue on blue incidents :D

You can get Guarder Glasses (C-G3 and C-G4) that have a prescription lens insert.

I've been trying to figure this out as well.

I have and I mean have to wear glasses or I’ll end up shooting myself.

I've worn contact but if you’re playing a full day then just end up drying out.

I'm using one of the full face masks from Eirsoft and its ok at the moment.

really considering getting custom prescription goggle’s but there slightly pricey.

For a cheap solution for the moment just pick up a standard full face mask.

I did the research, the Guarder goggles after you have found and bought good lens are just as, if not more expensive. Its just as easy to get prescription shooting goggles.

Surely there are goggles that will fit around glass's and that have vents for fog? It can't be that hard, my mesh goggles on my mask do it.

Thanks for the input and advice guys, it's all helpful.

Been looking at a few different full face mask options. The BLOK helmet reviewed on Arnies looks very good indeed, but I'm wary of full face options restricting view through scope.

I had sort of ruled out goggles, thinking that they just wouldn't fit around glasses, but after a bit more digging around, I came across these biker goggles which look like they should do the job. I'm guessing that "Impact resistant Polycarbonate lens" is adequate for Airsoft.

If I don't come across anything better, I think I'll go ahead and order those Big Bens tomorrow.

I've had the same problem for ages now and I've come through several solutions. Between snowboarding and my job I've had a bunch of different lens styles going on under various goggles and the two I've settled on are

    Uvex safety goggles
    http://ie.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=327545
Good protection all around, almost zero vision obscurement and very comfortable over any glasses.

    Spy Snowboard goggles
    http://www.spyoptic.com/cat.php?k=62212
These aren't the exact ones I use now but I've used these in the past and if I could find another pair somewhere nearby I'd pick them up in a flash. The ones I use now are Spy Blizzards
    http://www.sunglassoptic.com/p-864-spy-blizzard-snow-ski-goggle-black-sparklebronze-silver-mirror-snhgks41.aspx
They're discontinued but if you can find them, they're top notch, been using them for ages.

    same problem here...
I have low profile goggles but they cut the head off me with my glasses...
so i bought a pair of Bolle goggles from ProTac in the Curragh for 25euro.

Havent skirmished them yet but the are supposed to be anti-fog, have ventilation slits, are very comfortable and come with 3 different interchangable lense's (black, yellow and clear) and come in a small carry pouch... The goggles are OD in colour and sit very comfortably with either a helmet or boonie. most importantly, they are very very comfortable with specs!:)

They arnt goggles tho, they are glasses. None of the inconvienience of goggles with the fogging and such.

    Settled on these.
An interesting mod for them. Prescription glasses (polycarb) behind mesh should provide protection against any shattered BBs.

Is there any markings on safety glasses you should look for to see if they are suitable for airsoft.

    Nice idea....

I might well do that sometime.
