Ok - so I got a letter in the post saying I got 1 penalty point and must pay a fine -

The thing is, the address is sligglty wrong(wrong county but all other details are correct)

If they cant deliver the summones, by law I dont have to pay?

Just wondering if i didnt pay, would i still get the p.p. and not the fine?

need advice here - could be better of paying but if ye think itll work

Well if the letter got to you then I don't think it'll take Sherlock Holmes to find your house to deliver the summons. Take the fine on the chin and move on it's only 1 point after all

Well, the letter found you - why do you think any summons that might be attempted to be sent wont find you?

/edit - beaten to it by endplate.

well they sent the letter to my home address, where my parents live but im in college in a differrent county.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 991 ✭✭✭endplate

So what! You just don't want to pay the fine. Grand here's what you do don't pay it and will you post back how you got on with the judge??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

I hope you are not studying English on college :D

Seriously though, you might get away with it if you go to court...That will be up to the mood the judge is in. Its far more likely you will get done and probably get more than the 1 point.

oh my bad. its 10 points so i think iv to go to court anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 451 ✭✭mack1

what the hell did you get 10 points for in 1 go?

doing 100pmh in a 30 zone down the wrong way on a one-way st with no seatbelt, no tax, no insurance while drunk? AND you didn't have your license on you?

Da ****? What do they give 10 points for? Or do you mean you already have 10 points?

Even in that case, they only give out points for one of the offences (the one which attracts the highest number of points).

also, unless you filed a change of address form, which most people going to college would not, it isn't their problem that the address is 'wrong'; it is yours.

yes 10 alltogether lol :D - got 1 for where you cant go straight on but left only - i went straight on and a ban gaurd got me :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,107 ✭✭✭✭Stark

Well then, I assume you just pay the fine and end up on 11 points, end of story. Until you do your next stupid thing, find yourself facing a driving ban and come on here asking how you can get a family member to take the hit, which seems to be fairly common.

Can you pls tell us what the points were for?? Is it speeding as well or what?

Are you a slow learner or what?

How can you expect us to believe that you're studying engineering when you can't even spell the word? Or that you have an Impreza when you can't spell that word either? Or, for that matter, that you got a B in honours English when you can't spell? Fair play to you though, you're making me laugh.;)

I'd hate to meet you on the road. I hope you get banned . You're irresponsible and dangerous to be around, and you don't even seem to be able to learn from your mistakes. If fact, judging by you're spelling, grammar and punctuation, you don't seem to be able to learn at all. How did you ever get into college?

They don't give out dangerous driving convictions for "fast but in control".

It's possible to be 'fast & in control' and still be driving without consideration for others.

For example, you may be able to overtake safely, but if this causes inconvenience to any other person, you've broken the law.

This is mental! Just because your car handles better than an average car doesn't make you quicker to react! My Golf handles way better, stops in around half the quoted stopping distances in the RotR, I've experience driving performance cars on a track and yet I don't feel the need to do stupid things like speed and act the bo**ox doing doughnuts because I think I'm better than everyone else or somehow immune to causing crashes. And guess what? I've zero points. Go figure.

After carefully comparing the text to the Rosetta Stone, I think it either means

"Ha! Some of the penalty points will be going soon [expiring] anyway, so I'll just be careful for the next few months. After that, I'll claim some female was driving the car, so she can take my points."

    or

"I'm a glutton for punishment, and not the sharpest tool in the box."

or maybe the lyrics to the Sigur Ros song "Flugufrelsarinn", I'm not sure.

"Off topic" - I think its a good idea OP has been entertained at the top of the thread list for too long telling us how great he is :rolleyes:

had to google Flugufrelsarinn incomprehensable to say the least

OP: doughnuts will wear down your tyres, and thus your car will not be able to handle as well. True, with optimal conditions, it may, but with bald tyres... no. You'll attempt to swerve around something, end up hitting it, crash, and wrap your car around the lamp post.

How can you get points for doing a doughnut?

Its not like the law even know what donoughts are either, especially since you say you did them at a rally.

And you have a 4 Wheel Drive car. I don't believe you did a Doughnut. You really need a Rear Wheel Drive car to do it anyway(unless you have a non standard suspension set up and an adjustable centre differential, and the Scooby does not have that AFAIK, its afeature usually found on 4X4s). Its not impossible to do it, but highly unlikely, and with a 4WD car the power bias should be at the back(and the power bias in the Impreza like all Subarus is 50:50) for a doughnut.

yes its awd - its got a switch to make it rear wheel drive(well 85-15). The switch was added on before it was imported(jap car)

"power bias in the Impreza like all Subarus is 50:50 " - Thats wrong - the sti versions have adjustable ratios -mine doesnt(switch just added) but the newer ones do -

And after reading what i said earlier, It made no sense to me eitheir for a while, I typed taht before i went to bed cause the eyes sores me across the wrong way. buts its funny that you mention how fast the cat wwas in the junction, could it possible the jober sudge was found?

You're taking the mickey now, aren't you?

    465 points in LC?

    11 points for driving?

You cant use your Penalty Points for the CAO. Although, maybe 12 points will get you a very good course...

The law doesn't say not to test your 0-60 speed on a public road, but that doesn't mean it's a safe or clever thing to do. It's a dangerous, idiotic, "look at the size of my c*ck" sort of thing which deserves all the penalty points he got. Why would you think he wouldn't get penalty points for dangerous driving? I suppose it's made it clearer now that he said he was street racing as well, which also confirmed the idea that there's not a whole lot going on in that incredibly dim head of his. It's massive twats like that who have my insurance through the roof and are killing their equally sh1t-brained friends in crashes while cruising around at 3am.

Aha. Now I see why. If you're dumb enough to get caught then you have to deal with the consequences.

Anyway if you want to f**k up your car then best of luck with the old doughnuting.

Well the STis may have an adjustable power bias, but the rest of them don't AFAIK.

Its still easier to doughnut in a rear wheel drive car.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 113 ✭✭sticky9cd

its the same thing - actually its much better donuts in the sti as its way faster cause the front wheels are spinning too but its harder to get the car into the donut in the 1st place-=

and most imprezas dont have diff control but can be added on easily - afaik the new sti's have them standard for fuel economy
