I was in a pet shop yesterday and seen little terrapins for sale with a tank and a heat lamp for 350 euro. I used to call them baby turtles when i was a kid, can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about them cause wiki doesnt have sheet. Thanks

If after reading more about them and i eventaully wish to purchase one or two (is it best to have two?) where is the best place to go.

    Mucho Gracias Muchachas

    Don't go there, really!

Unless you've a lot of space in your house, are an avid reptile fan, and don't balk at spending thousands of euro and hours of your time looking after them.

These 'baby turtles' grow up to be enormous, smelly buggers. Just do a search and you'll find so many threads from people trying to rehome them. I'm not saying they are not enjoyable to own, but they are a lot more work than they let on.

Be prepared to eventually own a 5-6 foot tank, be prepared to spend 2-3 hours trying to empty and fill it once a month. These little guys can live for years and they're not pets you can bring with you on holidays etc.

Have a long and hard think if this is what you really want .....

They are a lot of work indeed,it would probably
be easier to keep a sm tortoise.

There are other types of turtles which don't grow as big and are more 'unique' looking, like musk turtles, theres a guy in wackers in town who say's he'll order them, only talk to the guys down stairs though.

Reptile Haven in Fishamble street is better for reptiles IMO.
They incubated my male and female cornsnakes' eggs for me and I got 11 lovely babies. I got 8 of the ten snakes I bought from them and 2 of my four lizards and they're all in fantastic health
