i'm moving to a newly built house next week. i currently have sky digital(on phone line) in my current home and would like to know can i carry over my contract, while updating to sky+ and multiroom, to new home.

if so, at what cost and if anyone knew the time scale, that would be great, because its ESSENTIAL the kids have it for xmas in new home.

also i dont plan on getting phone line, does this make any difference.

    thank you for any replies

    willie

Ring them up and bargain with them, my brother got into dealing with them and they had an "engineer" on site the week he moved into his new gaffOf course threaten to cancel your sub if they won't respond favourably

I am in a similar situation and according to a local sky installer you will not be able to get the Sky + and multi room on your current contact without a phone line.

I have talked to SKY directly about this and they are adamant that you need a phone line to upgrade to Sky + and multiroom.

You can get Sky + on a new contract without the phone line, but you will always need a phone line for multi room.

I am trying to do this (upgrade to Sky + and multiroom) using VOIP, I will let you know how I get on.

As Benedict says without a phoneline you cannot get multiroom

Best of luck with this, I'd be very interested to hear how you get it working as it has been a problem until now.

Stanley can you enlighten us on how it is working ?
I know you said Sky HD, does that have the same call back requirements as Sky + and multiroom ?

    VOIP = Voice over IP

Linksys PAP2 = box that converts ip voice to analog and vise versa, so you can use an analogue phone with a VOIP system.

You need really good quality G.711 codec (disable T.38 if the PAP2 has it on).

even then only some VOIP providers are good enough and also depends how good you UPLOAD as well as download is. Don't do ANYTHING else on your broadband when Skybox using VOIP :)

Got the Sky + and multi room installed.
The installer could not get the callback to work so he talked to sky and they activated the cards.

Since then I have not been able to force a successful callback.

I am using a PAP2 ATA for the voip.
I am using G711 codec and t.38 is not applicable on the PAP2

The PAP2 ATA is connected to a two way splitter that is connected to the jack. The other RJ11 port on the splitter goes to the multiroom box.

Would it be an advantage to connect the multiroom box to the PAPA 2 ATA directly
