    Empireonline.com
This time, Chev will face off against a Chinese mobster who – get this – has stolen Chelios’ nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered model that requires jolts of electricity to keep it going. Needless to say, Chev isn’t overly happy about this development and, rather than pause to ponder why the mobster just didn’t leave him without a heart, he embarks on a rip-roaring rampage of revenge that will make the first Crank look like a Merchant Ivory film.

I loved the first one. Non stop fast paced action fun from start to finish.
Hope the second time around it will be just as good

story sounds even stupider than the first, but it was an enjoyable watch if not taken seriously and hopefully this will be the same

Turned the first one off about 3/4s way through it. Probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. And not because I was expecting much,I like a good action no-brainer movie as much as the next guy. Recently I thought Shooter and Die Hard 4.0 were great fun to watch, but Crank was just a joke of a movie IMO.

    Whoa whoa whoa....

** SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN 'CRANK' **
Chev died at the end of the first one.. and it's pretty friggin' unlikely he survived that fall so it must be a prequel. Hell of a detail to omit when you're writing a synopsis!

EDIT: Just read the Empire article.. answered my question i suppose. I suppose 'Crank' in itself was so OTT that his survival is somewhat justified! :D

Crank was an extremely enjoyable film... noisy, action-packed and daft but if even a tenth of the action movies spat outta Hollywood nowadays were that fun, i'd go to the cinema more often!

Presumably, the new film will begin with him landing on a tree or car or in a pool or something. Or did we see actually him hitting the ground at the end of the first? I can't recall

He hopped off a car didn't he then face down on the ground iirc

Excellent news tho, perfect for leave my brain at the door.

Could work as a prequel! heh

Don't look if you haven't seen the first one:
After he hits the roof of the car and lands on the ground, a few seconds later he blinks and his heart starts beating again, right?

: But he fell from about a million feet up! Literally! Remember how long he was falling for? He body would have been reduced to little more than a smear

I seen a few videos on line of people who survived skydiving accidents when their shoots didn't open. They weren't in the best of shape afterwards but did survive some how.

It could be a case that they turn the ending of the original into a dream sequence (when the doctor offers to help him go into a coma and die peacefully, maybe he actually accepted it, or maybe even the sequel is just a dream as he lies dying.).

    Re: Spoilers:
It's Crank! It doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to be as beautifully stupid as possible.
Role on Part 2, I say.

No man, he smashed all over the road.
Even if he didn't splat his bones would be shattered.

Hopefully it will have Amy Smart...

Loved the first - It knew what it was - a dumb action film with great one-liners.

    Looking foward to this :D

Crank was truely awful viewing. One of the worst movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching in the cinema. Although there must be a market for this tripe seeing that this thread is full of fans.

Really cannot wait to see Crank 2. The first film was my favourite film of last year, and sits in my top 5 of all time. It's 84 minutes of sheer joyous over the top action and fun, and Jason Statham is superb.

Couldn't give a **** what the story is. Definitely going to be good fun.

Don't tell me he's supposed to have survived?

Crank was really enjoyable. Utter nonsense, but enjoyable. Would go see the sequel, definitely.

Really? Ahead of Pan's Labyrinth? Or The Prestige?

I love Pan's Labyrinth and the Prestige, but Crank just edges past them. I think it's due to how rewatchable it is. You can stick it on any time of the day, in whatever mood youre in and enjoy it.

In terms of comparing Crank to a film like Pan's Labyrinth, it doesn't come close, but for sheer fun noting can beat it.
Found this list of my favourite films of last year, and as you can see Crank and Pan's fill the top spots.

    1. Crank
    2. Pan’s Labyrinth
    3. Slither
    4. The Departed
    5. Children of Men
    6. Harsh Times
    7. The Prestige
    8. Miami Vice
    9. Jackass Number 2
    10. Casino Royale

Crank is a piece of genius. Reminds me of the olden days when action films were great and did not have to make sense.
