Advice Needed on Rake race for GJP

    Hi,

Theres a rakerace on GJP where theres a leaderboard for most raked hands.

    Structure works something like this

Top3 each get a ticket to Waterford Open and Expenses worth €750
    4-10th go into a 7 seater for 1 more ticket worth €750
11th-50th play off for 2 more tickets.

As it stands im 3 spots away from TOP 3, but i started 10 days late as i only joined GJP on the 10th of the month and i was 9th 6 days ago but i played very little compared to what i normally do an expected to drop out of the 7 seater place but instead im 6th so im obviosuly gaining alot of pace and have a shout at nicking another couple of places.

The leaderboard was updated tonight and tommorrow is the last day (tommorrow midnight is the deadline) so as i normally 8 table i was thinkning would it be worth it to drop to 20nl or something and 16table instead of my usual 100nl 8 tabling to make the extra hands.

I have the day off tommorrow so i could get in a serious amount of hands but im not sure on something quoted from the website http://www.greenjokerpoker.com/turn_points.html
For the purposes of this promotion every $1 in tournament registration fees will counts as 8 raked hands.

does this mean dropping levels will effect my chances and if so i could play like a nit 16tabling at 100nl, whats peoples opinions on this, is it worth the bother or should i just be happy with my 1 in 7 chance at a shot of the ticket or go for broke, its nearly worth 10buyins to me if i get a gauranteed ticket??

I'm not exactly sure how GJP works but I was in the same situation on another skin last month and top 5 got money and 6-10 got a book!! I made a run on the last day to take the 5th place and played 16 tables like a nit as i believe you get the rake/points whether your in the hand or not.... dropping levels wont help as you get half the points at 50/1 as you do at 1/2...

Unfortunately the guy in 5th copped on what I was at and cleverly sat at each of my tables for the whole day. so i moved up levels and he followed as well and stayed there never playing a hand..... he had a laugh in the fish/chat box about it... and then I came up with the plan...

If you open a new table on that skin you get double points so i opened all new tables and he sat in as well not knowing that I was getting double what he had... in the chat box he said all he had to do was stay at my tables and get the same points as me to stay ahead... was raging when I closed the gap from 600 points to 20 points but still came 6th.

check if GJP have this double points ...

    and best of luck

AFAIK it doesnt matter what level you play at, whether its $50/$100 or .50/1. A raked hand is still a raked hand.

8 table your .50/1 as normal but 8 table limit poker at .05/.1 and .1/.2 6 max. You barely even have to look at these tables. Just sit in with a fiver on each table it will probably last you the whole session. I did it for a while and was in the top 12 but because of work and other stuff, i couldnt give the promotion a good push so i stopped. GL anyway

    - you can't 16 table on GJP
    - the other guys also know about the race, these things always get people thinking near the end of the month. I was talking to cashrichboy and newyingwah today and I don't think you will catch crb
    - you have slightly less raked hands per hundred at the lower level, and the hands take longer
    - the thing you quoted is about tournaments, it doesn't have anything to do with what stakes cash games you play

I think you are best to 8 table 100NL, but I could be missing something.

also, out of curiosity, how many raked hands have you played? You can check in Pokertracker just filter all hands rake > 0.01 played under that username this month.

oh can you 16 table? I'm pretty sure I've got messages about having the max number of tables open, I can't play more than 8 tables anyway but sometimes I want to sit out on a load of them.

Paul I have sent you an email, sorry it was so late been offfline for last few hours.

You can 16 table now since an upgrade a while ago.

The Raked hands league is there to make sure that not only the high stakes players get to win these added prizes which is why any raked hand counts. You would have to play a few more table hours at micro stakes as not all pots are raked.

I switched databases when i took a shot at moving up levels and because i datamine using 2 pcs it double recorded some of my stats so my stats are all over the place, ive heard from another player on ipoker the same as you that catching him is unlikely and i left it too late so ill just play as normal and ill have a much better chance next month as i missed 10 days this month and played a few k less than i usually do this week. And ive been 16table mining on GJP this last month, most of the ipoker sites changed to 16 tables around the same time as Carlos switched from unlimited to 16

Mac you must have been sick missing out by that much, great thinking sitting at double points tables, he would have got some shock had you caught him

    Cheers

you should probably 16 table for as many hours as you can at lower stakes. might give you a shot in the raked hands league. How many hands have you played since October? I could give you a very rough idea of how many hands I've played. I'm Lolitrickedu.

Played about 25-26k hands in the 3weeks since i joined, id usually play 36k-40k in a month

I'd estimate ive played somewhere in the region of 60k hands over the 2 months and im 3rd, so you can probably work it out from there. I'd say it's likely you'll be in the playoff position.

A rake race with cash prizes is a good idea for next month
