The colours don't really add much to them, if they had popped off my card I would probably try an aul B&W conversion...

Love the first one by the way. Can't really comment contrast-wise, as my monitor is just awful and I'm guessing my way through all of my own PS work at the mo :(

Hmm, i tried B&W and it didnt really work for me to be honest.

Someone on here takes some awesome horse photos (borderfox maybe?) so theyre probably looking at them thinking theyre a bit crap lol

The cropping looks a little too tight for me. they may look a little more interesting taken from a different viewpoint - specifically down on the ground. Exposure is good tho.

Cheers BW, unfortunately i was as close to the ground as i could get without being trampled by horses! :D
I wasnt there in any official capacity and had to beg the folks at the door to let me take the camera in with me so i couldnt really take any more liberties than to hang over the edge to get as low down as i could.

Love the first one, its a bit closely cropped but shows off the horses profile so well. Second one is nice too but I think it needs a different background (I know this isnt possible) third one is just personal that I dont like the form of the horse. Good job shooting indoors too, most of the places I shoot are pitch black and you start your day but turning the ISO up to 800.

yeah these were taken at 1600 ISO.
I could probably have got away with a far lower setting but id had a fairly uninspiring fortnight in photographic terms so i really needed to make sure i got somethg to come home with!

It can be really tough to decide what lenses to take with you on holidays.

It can?? I just bring everything, and leave the clothes and other stuff at home. You can buy everything when there, but lenses are too expensive. :D

Last trip to Prague I took the 30mm f1.4 and the 10-20mm.

horses can be a bit of a challenge to photograph properly, i've noticed at times it's difficult to get the exposure right, maybe it's something to do with the texture of their hair or something, those photographs are very interesting, crops are perhaps a bit tight but overall i like them, i wouldn't have thought you'd be allowed to bring a camera in - well done !!

Cheers Fionn, I find with horses its really hard to bring out the muscle tones a horse in top condition has.
Theyre awesome animals and id love to be able to do it better, i suppose it just takes practice.

Eirebear - love the photo's(i'm only starting out in photography!), those friesian horses are just the bees knees, i'm a big horse fan, rode for 12 years! Where'd you go see these guys if you don't mind me asking?

    Hiya Kas, thanks.
I took these on holiday in spain last week....they were taken at a show in a little ranch about 10 miles outside Malaga.
