I won a ticket to the masters classic of poker in holland main event (5000euro entry fee) on Paddy Power. Ive never played in such a big tournament, the blinds start at 25-50, and increase every 90mins. It is a four day event, and probally between 350-400players. Any advice would be appreciated:confused:

Play the Pokerstars "deepstacks" tourneys, they vary in buy-in from $11 up to $109 Stars Deepstacks Schedule

They would pretty much be the online equivalent of a live slow structured deep stacked event albeit at a much more affordable price.

If you haven't already read Dan Harrington's books now would a good time:
    Harrington on Hold'em

As far as playing the event itself, you will have soooo many chips to start with and loads of time with the length of each blinds level, lots of patience, no need to start playing QTo from the blinds to a raise because you haven't played a hand in hours, the chances are the blinds won't have affected your stack much early on. By the time the blinds start to inject a little bit of pain to your stack, open up your game a little and exploit your rocky image, that is to say if you already had a rocky one to start with. Be calm and confident the same as if you were back home taking your mates money. Take your time with your decisions and above all enjoy the experience.

The best piece of advice is get stuck right into the old tourneys now asap, PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE.

Alternatively cash in your ticket and trip, grab missus in tow and head to Vegas.

    All good advice there.

Also, when you are playing do not be over-awed by the tourney itself and the players that are there. At the end of the day, they only get the same 2 cards you do throughout the tournament.

Play it just like you would any other MTT.

Don't be afraid of playing your game.

Remember the 10 BB rule. No matter at what stage in the tourney you are, if you are down to 10 BBs or less, push any 2 cards if no-one has opened the pot before you. Decide you are going to do this before you look at your cards. Don't be afraid of a call here either. Even 7/2 off will beat AK more then 30% of the time. You are better off pushing 7/2 off with 10 bbs then having to push AK with only 3 or 4BBs cause you will get more callers when you get that low and AK wont stand up 30% of the time against multi callers.

Above all, don't be afraid of looking silly. You won't, no matter what happens. If you show down what you think is a silly call or think you have made a bad play remember, this only makes the other players think you are more dangerous and they will respect you more.

Finally, bring a bottle of water and a banana at the start of each session.

Well done and good luck in the ME
