Hi, this query is a bit long but please bear with me.

Im using windows Xp home and over the last week or so ive had a few problems:
i tried to watch a few vids on youtube the other day and couldn't i got a "cannot find flash player" error even though i had downloaded flash ages ago and never had a problem i tried to download again from the link in youtube but got another error
to do with "symantec frame work" can't remember exactly what it was,
so i tried a full system scan a number of times with norton and it would crash after about 5 min.
i went on to the symantec web site couldn't find anything so i booted in safe mode and tried a scan from there which completed but didn't find any problems i still have 120 odd days left on my subscription.
Tried symantec again but kept getting "error on page" message and couldn't get past the home page.

Now i cant get on to any website so i decided to try a system restore ,i boot in safe mode click no when the box appears to choose the restore but when the System restore window opens i get " run time error 148: object expected" run debug y/n it takes a couple of clicks to choose yes then nothing, i have an empty window with system restore as the heading but nothing else.
Can any one help me with this??

It's difficult to figure out where to start. Really sounds like your machine is messed up!

In any case, I would complete all the usual computer maintenance tasks. EG Chkdsk, disk cleanup, defrag, several spyware scans, virus scan, registry clean etc. And see how we are doing from there.

I suspect this is an registry error but you could pop in your XP installation CD and run sfc /scannow and see if any important files are missing
