Howdy all, Pete Brennan here, formerly of Three Castles Dublin(story boys:)) (& also that Irmac nightmare which shall be spoken of no further)

    Hows everybody doing?

I'm currently living and training in Australia and my coach was wondering if there'd be any interest in him running a seminar/seminars in Ireland next year.

    His name is John Donehue.

He's a great instructor and a top bloke to boot. The guy has an encyclopedic knowledge of all areas of grappling and has an excellent teaching style that makes the complicated seem uncomplicated(unlike my composition)

If anyone would be interested, you can either post here or email me: peter.brennan@gmail.com

Like I mentioned, I'm just feeling out the waters at the moment.

Thank you all and safe rolling:)

Here is a brief bio of John:

He's a BJJ blackbelt directly from Rigan Machado.

Competed for the Machado's on their USA competition team.

Is an affiliate of the Nova Uniao association of BJJ schools.

Holds a blackbelt in USJA Judo, Gene LeBell Judo and Gene's grappling system(one of only a handful of BB's in Gene's systems).

Learnt to wrestle under the legendary Rico Chiparelli.

Instructed at the Inosanto Academy including teaching Dan private classes in BJJ.

He's also the tackling coach for the current Australian NRL premiers, the Melbourne Storm, and has worked with some high profile AFL teams as well due to his reputation as an excellent coach.

One of his students holds a win over Renzo Gracie in ADCC 2001.

NO wonder our boys got the S**T beaten out of them in Pearse Stadium this time last year. Apologies for the fact that this diverts from the thread, but perhaps he should give the Irish International Rules team a seminar or two, fight fire with fire.

You were the Admin on Irmac ? Good to hear from you Mr. Brennan. So your rolling over in Aus. You must be 2 years or more over there, done a grading in BJJ yet ?

Yeah, I was that wounded soldier, haha:) How you doing?

I've been training under JD and his guys (in between injuries) since I got here.
If anyone is out this way I'd recommend they swing by, good bunch of guys.
I've even entered a couple of bjj comps, with mixed success. Have a big one in two weeks which should be a larf, will be competing in both the pyjama and spandex wrasslin divisions:D

Just one grading for me so far, have a couple of stripes on the ould white belt now:)

I don't want to belabour the point too much but just to add to the bio I posted, here's a few quotes/testimonials from people who've trained with the coach:

John is not only the best in Australia but also one of the best in the world at this stuff! He is one of my few Black Belts. He is a classic in his field and a legend in his own time. - 'Judo' Gene LeBell

I consider John to be an exceptional high level Coach and Instructor in the grappling arts. I took private lessons from John and he made Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so much easier for me to understand as he broke things down so well and customized it for me. I would highly recommend John as a coach, teacher and trainer in any of the submission and grappling arts. - Guru Dan Inosanto

John not only helped me but also my guys understand the submission side of grappling. He breaks things down really well and shows you the intricacies of the submissions that you won't get from most Brazilian guys. Everything comes back to the basics. - Rico Chiparelli

John is a personal friend of mine. He is a great teacher because he has the ability to make complex things simple. If you get a chance to train with him you should. He really knows his stuff. - Erik Paulson

If you ever get the opportunity to take a class or seminar under John, you'd be a mentalist to miss out on it - Me:)
