    According to today's Irish Independent, the club is to close next year!

    Thats a pity but probably a sign of things to come elsewhere. The issues at Macreddin will likely also be happening in other newer courses also.

    Golf seems to have well and truly peaked. Was chatting to our club captain recently and he said member numbers at most clubs around were well down this year.

    I guess the only upside is that it might get joining fees down a bit and make getting in to decent clubs a tad easier.

    Harbour Point is in a good location close to cork city (AFAIK). I would not be surprised if the owners realise this land is more valuablefor development then as a golf course!

    Of course if this is the reason it is closing Im sure they would say so :)
