The band's third and most popular album. So, are they just Godspeed clones who got lucky or are they deserving of their own place in the public's eye? Are they a one trick pony or is the sound they crafted worth exploring further and further? All these opinions and more coming in the posts after this one.

I started listening to these before Godspeed so my opnion may be skewed.

Really like their sound and definitely worth the listen if not a purchase, also... they're coming to Ireland with Eluvium* next January.

Love them. For some reason I don't hear any Godspeed in them.

EDIT:I wish I could go see them.I don't know why so many gigs are over 18's.

Its my favourite album by them, six days at the bottom of the ocean is some song. The sound of a band at their peak. I think some people labelled them as mogwai copiers, not heard of them copying Godspeed, don't see how that could be. Their new cd was a bit of a letdown for me, but theres only so much you can do with post rock. Looking forward to seeing them return in January, eluvium seem interesting but the usual clowns who go the village will probably talk over his set:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I always think of Godspeed as Explosions have that same loud/quiet/loud/quiet and almost orchestral vibe going on in their arrangements. I suppose if Godspeed were happy with the world they'd sound like Explosions...

I agree about the new album but I wouldn't say that they've reached the limits of "post rock". Bands like Larsen, Labradford and A Silver Mt. Zion keep pushing the limits of that non-genre and expanding their sound. Explosions seem to have found a niche and are getting their money's worth. For most bands this would piss me off but not so for Explosions for some reason.

The album itself is fantastic. I'm not a big fan of GSYBE, so I don't equate them with that exact style of music though. I prefer The Six Parts Seven and they are a bit "samey" over the whole catalogue, but their good stuff is amazing. Can't wait til Jan.

Saw them live down in Limerick back a few years ago, was a awesome experence. Although I much prefer Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever to this album, not to say I don't like it. Just it seems a little sterile and bland at times.
