    This is one of the first RAW images I've shot and processed, went to Avondale today for a quite strole only to find a few hundred people holding cross country races:D

    Maybe it is only my display, but I don't see "100% black" in the pciture, only the frame. Picture looks a little soft-plain. Have you checked levels?
    I was talking only about how does it look. The picture itself is very good.

    Very nice bradnailer. Personally i'd like to see it with a little more contrast. Sharpness in not really an issue for me.

    Is this any better, is there a fixed path that you follow for B&W conversion

    I'm no expert, but I usually start off by setting the Lightroom Preset - Creative - B&W High Contrast. Then play with it from there.
