Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so free free to move if its not.

Currently living in US with some friends, one of these friends has lived here for almost 4 years and is illegal. An opportunity has arrisen for him to get married to US citizen in order to get visa.
The girl he will marry can be trusted and although he will give her money, she will benefit also as she wants to live in Europe and travel freely.
He knows the financial cost of it all including lawyer fees and red tape costs etc, money is not really a problem.
He has a friend that did something similar years ago but things have probably changed since...

The questions he has been left with are really from an Irish point of view and what the process is in Ireland.
He knows he has to open joint bank account here, prove they have been going out for years, go for interviews etc but what do the Irish government require.
He has the money and sponsors but is still weary of the whole complicated process

Has anyone gone through this process recently and do they have any advice on any aspects of it.

    Thanks
