Please help me with wireless network

Im an eircom broadband customer with a Netopia wifi modem / router ,i was hoping to connect my laptop up to my main internet connection (home pc)so i went out and bought a Belkin wireless G USB Network Adopter for my laptop from argos,but have been unable to get it connected.I have installed the usb network adopter to my laptop and thats ok i just am lost at to where to go from there.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated.thank you.

lol i have to help people do this every day in work for 8hrs a day


do you see the belkin icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen?
right click it, click view available wireless networks and look for your one, and click on connect

id that doesn't work try the following;

(if u have xp)

click start, control panel
click administrative tools
services
scroll to the bottom and look for Wireless zero configuration
right click it and click on start

then try the step above and see if that works
