Folks my mam had sky+ in and has now cancelled it, I have the box at home and only have the normal sky with sports and movies. Is it possible for me to swap the normal box out to put the Sky+ box in??

    Yes.

However you'll need a Quad LNB and run another length of coaxial cable from dish to the Sky+ box (it requires 2 feeds from the LNB).

Then you'll just need to ring sky, have your card paired to the Sky+ box, and have recording activated.

Would I have to get a Sky engineer out to put the quad LNB in?

BTW - if your Mam cancelled because of the monthly fee for Sky+, you should tell her that they've got rid of that now. She could get it reactivated at no extra monthly charge (provided she still has a basic Sky subscription)

    Sorry for stating the obvious
BUT there would be a quad LNB on the dish at your mothers. if they are not using it why not take that.

I have a similar query to Johnny. I have Sky in sitting room and bedroom, with Sky plus in sitting room. I now want to have Sky + in bedroom with a sky + box I got from gf...do I have to go through the same process?

As you're already using all 4 outputs from the LNB (Sitting room, bedroom, and 2 for Sky+) you'll either need to get an Octo LNB (has 8 outputs) or do away with the sitting room box.

Or indeed another dish to make a fifth connection...

My mam got rid of sky completely because they wouldn't take the money from her bank account for some reason and she got fed up of ringing asking them to take it.
I will take her Quad LNB when I get a chance but Sky have told me now that they will not Pair the box to my existing Sky card or anything so I'm stuck at the minute as to what to do.

Yes, they will. Whoever you were on the phone to mustn't have known what they were on about.

byte, they asked their supervisor and I was told that the card that was in the sky+ box(my mams card) is the only card that can be used. I told them I knew people that got them done no problem and she just said wel we can't do it because the box is second hand etc. I will ring someone else tomorrow and get them to sort it cos I want to get this setup asap and don't have the time to do it myself.

Sounds like a load of twaddle to me.

I bought a second hand Sky+ box on eBay, and had no problem having the card paired. As many others have done.

Don't know whether to start a new thread for this but my Sky + box (nearly 3 years old) when watching a channel the signal breaks down like a bad signal, however if I remove the power lead from the box, (power it down) and back up, it is grand for a couple of days.

Is the box on the way out or is it a dish or LNB problem??

    Thanks in advance. :)
