    Which is the faster processor?

    a) Intel Pentium 4 with 2,800 MHz
    b) Intel Pentium 4 with 1,600 MHz Dual Core

    Thanks!

Depends on what you're running, multithreaded or single threaded progs.

The Pentium D's started at 2.6 GHz though, so where is this 1.6 GHz part coming from?

If it is a single threaded prog would option (a) be the faster? I suppose it would.

I can't find any mention of Pentium D's at that speed anywhere.

For a single threaded app, option a is much faster. Are you sure the 1.6 GHz item you mention is P4 based, rather than Pentium M or Core based?

The second one might be a core duo.
