The True Meaning of Pictures
Documentary showcasing the work of photographer Shelby Lee Adams, who has been photographing a hillbilly community in Kentucky's Appalachian Mountains for over 30 years. Bypassed by mainstream America, they are a remarkable echo of a long-gone past. Subjects such as the Napiers, who lost ten children to violent deaths and live without running water or electricity as well as the outlawed Holiness Pentecostal Church, who drink strychnine and handle rattlesnakes for God provide arresting images.

The Twenties in Colour: The Wonderful World of Albert Kahn

Series examining Albert Kahn's ambitious 'Archives of the Planet' project, in which he sent photographers, armed with the world's first user-friendly colour photographic system, around the world to document all aspects of human life. When the Armistice was signed in November 1918, Kahn's team photographed the scenes of jubilation in Paris. Dont have most of the other channels but i watched Tom Ang's Picture of Britain the first time around on the beeb, quite enjoyed it, i like Ang's photography and also his style of teaching.
