After successive buy in losses I have moved to Stars where there seem to be more large entry tournaments starting at a decent hour so I won't be up all night.

My Q is, if I'm playing mostly low buy in, large entry MTTs, and probably the 180 SNGs while waiting or after busting, is there any point in getting Poker Tracker, Sharkscope or any of the other utilities? Are they only good for cash, or higher stakes games?

I do rely on my own notes in these games all the time but obviously, just moving to a site, with such a large player base, it'll take me ages to build up any info. I just take note of their ranges, their calls with rag aces, how they play big hands etc..

Bearing in mind I'll just be playing about 1 night a week and won't be able to datamine, is there anything to be gained?

Poker Tracker is useless with tournaments and sharkscope only deals with STTs. Neither will help you.

officialpokerrankings.com or pokerdb.com will assist you more

    Thanks.

But I thought one of the arguments the lads were making vis a vis multi accounting was that in the later stages of a tournament they'd have stats on you but they were playing on an effectively anonymous account? Will those sites (pokerdb etc.) not just tell me how successful they are, not necessarily how they play hands?

    Maybe I'm missing the point.
