i have had a nikon d40 for the past 6 months and know it inside out at this stage. For xmas I was thinking of upgrading, selling the d40(250euro) body and maybe getting a d80 body(700euro).

or should I search ebay for a cheaper discontined d70? is there much of a diference between the d70 and d80?

I think you'd be making a good decision.

See what offers you can get on eBay with the D80 - search Kea Photo on www.ebay.co.uk

Quite a few of us here use him, and find him to be good value.

I've got a D80 and I really can't speak highly enough of it. My cousin has a D70 and thats also terrific but they are scarce now and not much cheaper than the D80 so you may as well go for that.

was playing with a d80 all last night. Nice camera, very little between it and the d70,is an improvement but not huge, I'd lean towards a d300 personally

The price on the body is negotiable a little bit I guess......selling to fund my new D3 & lenses which I should hopefully have towards the end of November?

    Pete.

LOL, I had the use of a D3 for a few days evaluation. Grea camera but a little beyond my present needs.

Can't afford one even with the discount offered as a thank you. It'll be much cheaper from Albert than the price Nikon UK and Ireland can quote :)

Don't know if you are interested but Berminghams have a D70 for sale on their website. Brilliant piece of kit for €400
