Im going to Some Days Never End tonight, on the ticket it says no cameras.

I would love to take my Canon 5d and the 24-70 lens but dont want refused entry or having to put the camera into the cloakroom (never going to happen)

Does anyone have any experience about taking cameras into concerts?

Im sure there worried about recordings being made of the performace but theres no video on the Canon 5d.

I was at Slane this year and the amount of cameras around was staggering , even though it said no cameras on the ticket , every song from the gig must be on youtube using the video fuctions , terrible sound though.

The problem you have really is that a 5D makes you look like a pro and thats going to set off alarm bells with all the bouncers/attendants.

They dont mind compacts so much , but they'll be thinking your going to make money off your shots and that annoys some promoters and artists.
Im not sure how press passes work , maybe they will expect you to pay extra for bringing gear like that in , Im with you 100% on the cloakroom thing though , I'd go home before I'd hand over such expensive gear to anyone.

Was there last night. Don't go near the place with your gear if you don't have a press pass or your car outside to put it back into.

Was told "Strictly no professional camera equipment", and that was from just seeing the LCD screen from the back.

I actually had no intention of shooting the gig, was finished college and couldn't leave all my gear there.

Edit: And be sure to take note of the fantastic odours within the tent, and their wonderful placement of the stage behind the tents centre column...

ok - so i said feck it, if i get a knock back, so what.

had the lens in my pocket and camera round the neck and under the jacket.

    no problems.

mathias - your so right - it was such a joke, there were literally hundreds of cameras

i did saw one guy with two nikons and a serious looking lens, didnt see a press pass but who knows.

smells - ok (ive been to glastonbury - try smelling the dance tent at 3 in the morning...)

ill try and get one or two shots up soon - dont think i got anything remarkable - but position - and people kept putting up there hands in front of me - inconsiderate bastards ; )
