Wii Questions

I have just bought a Wii for the KIds for Christmas. I do not want to open it yet, just in case they change their minds.
    I have a few questions:

What length is the AV cable that comes with it? I need about 3 metres to my LCD. If its not that long can it be extended or is there a longer version available?

I want to get Wii play for it but it seems to be sold out everyhere. Anyone know where I can get it ( Preferably North Dublin / City centre )

CAn someone recommend a game that would be suitable for boys and girls age 7 - 11?

    Thanks
    JR

The cable is pretty long. Dont have a ruler to hand though so not sure if its 3m

Super Mario Galaxy will be out by then. Kids in that age group should enjoy that. Maybe Zelda:Twilight Princess as its cheap in Argos and is excellent.
Mario party 8 or Super Paper Mario are also quite good and are child friendly.

    Thanks for that.

Anyone got a measurment of the cable?
    Wii play availabliity?

    Thanks

I've just looked at my Wii av cable and it's not quite 3 meters I think (I didn't measure it, just a bit of a guesstimation). It looks to me to be about 2 - 2.5 meters.
    Super Paper Mario

I'm not sure if 7-11 year olds would like SPM, bit too story driven maybe?

Its age 3+ on the box. The stories arent overly difficult, plus you can always skip reading them. My 9 year old niece loves it as does her 7 year old sister.

All kids seem to like MY SIMS - mine and all their friends are after it anyway. For Wii Play you may be better off ordering online - the wii mote that comes with it makes it quite sought after. I find Virgin and HMV are good for games sold out elsewhere cos theytend to be a few quid extra.

As far as I know the Wii AV cable is only 1.9 m long and I am unaware of any official way of extending it - again online maybe your best bet for a longer cable.

Been searching everywhere for WiiPlay and it seems to be out of stock everywhere. The woman in Virgin today told me it seems that it won't be back in before Christmas! :|

Super Paper Mario is only 3+ because there's not much in the way of violence in it, game ratings aren't really based on ability. Having said that, it is a very cute game and has some nice humour to it, but some parts need a bit of good thinking to get through. I suppose 7 would be ok though...

Yeah, there seems to be a common misconception about PEGI ratings (these are the ones that are 3+ etc.). There is no correlation between the level of difficulty in a game and the PEGI rating. It's all to do with content (drugs, violence, sex, language etc.).

the wii cable is a standard composite cable.
just get an extesnion lead from maplins or the like,
    should cost that much

Bear in mind that he has an LCD tv though, so it'll look like total ass with the bundled composite cable.
I'd advise on getting a component cable seperately, and then extensions for that if needs be.

As for games, Super Mario Galaxy is a no brainer, it should be released 2 weeks from Friday, so you should have loads of time to grab a copy before crimbo.

Managed to get WiiPlay today, after searching in almost every game related shop in town. Everywhere is sold out, except Game in Dawson Street, although they are selling it for €59.99, €10 more than a lot of places were selling it.

GameStop mentioned when I went in that they have copies in their stores in Santry and Donaghmede, but it was no use to me.

Not sure if there are any left in Game, I coulda got the last one? Most places said they don't expect much stock this side of Christmas, so if you can find one, buy it straight away. It's not available on most online shops anymore. If its just the game you're looking for and not the controler, all the GameStops I went into had it second hand for €19-29 without the controler.

And I'd recommend the Simpsons Game, it looks super good and its out Friday.

Looks kind of crap judging by Eurogamer's 360 review, but I guess it'd be a fine game for younguns...

Rang Gamestop in Donaghmede today . Was told they had 7 in stock. went down and a very embarrased sales guy told me it was a computer hitch. None in Gamestop Santry either.

GAME Northside Shopping centre ( 018488918 ) have a good few and got one there *Pheww*. As innocenteyesuk says its a littel dearer than most others but its in the bag now
