    hi

can anyone point me to good sites for
    understanding wiring.

i need to learn the logic behind it, i need to undertand it
(the chain, whats hot, whats not, grounds etc etc)

I have looked at schematics to beat the band but
dont actually understand the logic, I'm sure its not that difficult
but when i open a guitar, its a sea of joints and wires and i find it
hard to work out whats going where, but more importantly, why?!

i have bought a few bits for my epi lp and and am totally stuck
the switch is different to what was on it, there are more wires
coming to the switch than there is on your average schematic,
i bought gfs mean 90 pups with three wires out, the epi has two wire conductors so that has me flustered too,

i would much rather try to get an understanding than spend hours
soldering different wiring connotations in a blind hope of it working!

    any links welcome

    regards

You only need 2 of the wires on those pickups. Most humbucking pickups i've installed have 4 wires. 2 of the wires are soldered together. The other is the hot wire whch goes to the switch and the last goes to the ground point on the pot (can't remember if 's the tone pot or the volume pot). Ther'es usually a schematic with pickups which shwo how they are supposed to be wired.

When you say switch do you mean the 3 position toggle switch?

    hi
I had a book (the guitar hand book) explained the actual circuitry of the pickups and switch gear very well , try this http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Handbook-Ralph-Denyer/dp/0679742751
