Nice turnout there Corktina, there's a new enthusiast fro South Africa now living in Cork and will be joining shortly, not sure of his nick but his names dave, I've suggested he chat to yourself and Junkyard about coming on runs etc

Is that a Taunus Coupe?? I thought it was a Cortina?? I saw a Taunus coupe up in Castlebar last week down a side road. will take camera with me next time
    regards

Was it wine or maroon coloured? if it is, thats an earlier generation pillarless coupe...very rare rhd (imported into Uk for short period between mk4 Zeph and Grandad.....) nice car..

Mine is a TC1 (german version of Cortina, so you were close....)

Tell Dave to get in touch...Ive a South African Cortina and could use some SA contacts in the Ford area....

Neither, Corktina, it's a light beige brown, I know the model well,Buddy had a light blue one in Durban South Africa when i had my MGB GT BDTECR etc, used to be vacuum cleaners on the durban beachfront...lol
If Dave is monitering this , post and say hello bud,
I had the Mk 3 Cortina 3.0 XLE and would love to get another, but the 73 BMW 3.0 CS is almost finished and i'd get divorced if I brought another project home before she's finished

You can't get "new" shells, but people are bringing in cars from South Africa & Australia, as these places are good sources of rust free shells.

Most of the good shells in Ireland & the UK have been used, so you have to look further for rust free shells.

An occasional tidy-looking Polish Mk2 shows up over on rally.ie , usually for fairly big money.

here in holland or belgium the Mk2 Escort isn't overly popular or sought after, so you can pick up some tidy examples for reasonable money here.

    Here;s just a quick example:

A Gold metallic 1980 1.3L Aut. 2 door, in reasonably good condition, hardly any rust, paintworks still good, stored for the last 16 years.... so would need to be commissioned back for the road, but I'd say superb basis for a replica or restore to original condition.
Owner is looking for offers, with current max offer at 750, but I would suspect in the region of 1000-1500 euro's would do the trick...

Ford Escort 1980 LHD in Holland

If someone wants me to negotiate, feel free to contact me.
