    prob a touchy subject!!

well im gona stand up for her, i thk shes a great ambassador for irish jumping and her dopeing offence was a class a. the smallest and minimal with no motive behind it..

the way the irish media have hounded her is an absolute disgrace , she should be applauded for her achievements and what she has done for irish jumping. her stance on the whole cian o connor affair was her own opinion and shes been targeted nw for bn two faced.

why do the irish media highlight the bad in everything and not put emphasis on the good???? we should have more training for young riders allowing them to progress and achieve their potential, grants should be given to horse owners who represent their country and fly the irish flag....

we have the best of the best equines its a pity its the humans destroying the potential we have as a world class showjumping team

TBH the Indo will never be friendly towards her!. Do you think she could have been set up?. I liked her on the urban cowboy pony program a few weeks ago, Diarmuid was, well, his usual self.

well as far as i knw, and ive bn following the case fairly closely as i thk is the best ever, my idol, anyway, it was a class A substance which means it was something used in the medical sense like a tonic to clam mieke( horse) dwn something totally silly that you wouldnt knw off, be like me giving good as gold to cliff ( calming powder) and one of the ingredients in it was a banned substance.... how the hell would you knw??? wasnt intentional.

i really feel for her, yes she is knw for her tantrums and high maintanence behaviour but if you had her pressures and work load i thk you would be too.

Bout time the irish backed their own instead of being the first to jump on the attack...

go jess your still the best

    I agree with u fillie,
we should stand up for our own and show some loyalty, there are far too many ready to put us down,we have the best horses in the world, thats why our Irish draught is the most sought after for the amazing showjumping ability and temperment.

    +1 Fillie.

She hunted with us and was so down to earth. Im glad she doesn't have to put up with that sh!t of thw whole politics and irish team. She is a fine rider and a pure lady and deserves to be left alone and do what she does best.

Jessica Kurten accuses FEI of major errors

Irish show jumper Jessica Kurten has accused the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) of "gross procedural errors" over the medication case concerning her horse Castle Forbes Maike.

A second sample from Jessica's horse tested positive last week for a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug called Etoricoxib. The sample was collected at La Baule, France, in May this year.

The drug is classed by the FEI as "medication" rather than "dope", making this a more minor infringement than for some substances .

If Jessica accepts liability, she would pay 750 Swiss francs (£320) fine and forfeit the €22,000 (£15,400) she won at the show. But the rider insists her horse was not given any drug and has said she wants the case heard by an FEI tribunal. She has also publicly accused the FEI of bungling the case.

"These things must be clarified...for the public impression of our sport, and its federation," she said in a statement.

"The justifiable demand for clean sport is inseparable from the athlete's right to a fair and correct hearing."

Jessica claims that the news of Castle Forbes Maike's first positive test was "indiscreetly passed on to the Irish and German media" in August, during the European Show Jumping Championships in Mannheim, Germany (news, 30 August).

She claims the FEI will not confirm how much of the drug was found in the samples and that an independent analyst was not allowed to witness the testing of the second "B" sample on her behalf.

Jessica also claims the media were informed of the positive B test before she and her lawyers were.

FEI spokesman Malina Gueorguiev denies this.

"We are extremely careful to follow our own rules so there can be no procedural errors," she said, explaining that FEI rules permit a witness to check that a B sample is not contaminated, but not the actual testing.

She added that information leaked to the press about the positive A sample had not come from the FEI.

When H&H went to press on Monday, Ms Gueorguiev said the FEI had not been formally notified of Jessica's complaints or her request for a hearing.

In September 2004 Jessica's horse, Castle Forbes Libertina, tested positive for a prohibited substance at a show in Calgary. Jessica blamed contaminated feed. But the case was dropped by FEI when the sample container was found to have a leak.

You know this runs alot deeper than doping or abuses within the sport. The Irish media were so quick to jump to conclusions because Jessica had refused to ride with o'connor apparently out of principal. She is one of the most succesful riders on the continent and there is something sinister at play.

I applaud her and wish her well. Its just sad to see someone who stands up for their principals get berrated.

I've never met her... and I dont really believe what I'm fed in the media.

I cant understand why the FEI cant seem to test a sample without f*cking it up though... its hardly rocket science. And the news should never have been leaked to the media, that stinks tbh.

exactly how hard is it to run a feckin test??!
Jessica is a fantastic rider theres no doubt about that

however I have no sympathy for her as I felt it was ironic justice that she got caught out after throwing a strop about having to share a stable block with Cian.
Cian may come across as arrogant/up himself I used to think so but after meeting him I have to say he is a lovely guy and has time for everyone. Theres a back lash against him as people feel family connections got him where he is but to be fair the boy can ride! We started off in the same riding school years back and he has gone a damn sight further than I ever will.
When a friend of mine who has a severe illness and still rides. she won an award a few years back and got to meet the president and Cian. He went out of his way to have a rug and coat designed with her detail on it for her a Gift it was so nice and meant so much to her.

As for pony kids - Ive always said this just because you can do something doesnt mean you can teach others how to do it. 1 or 2 RIs Iknow would have done better with those kids IMO.

I dont think she did much of the actual teaching to be honest. Most RIs I know would have done better with those kids. I still cant believe they were so awful after 10 weeks training.

I'm just going to warn everyone not to make any slanderous allegations and to keep this discussion clean. Theres a lot of people who are new to boards on here so I just want to clarify that.

MY RI saw them jumping at Kill she was dying to have a shot at teaching them as they were doing so many things wrong that she felt she could have helped with ...as did I when I saw the show

Getting back to the OP, a lot of stuff has happened in recent years that we wish hadn't happened.
Jessica is our highest rated rider by far at the moment, she will be our only rep at Hong Kong next year if she chooses to go. I hope she does because she would have a serious chance of a medal if the form she is in at the moment continues, I know its a long time until then but she has my support anyway.
