Hi--I'm an American student who attended UCD for an English MA, 2006-2007. I have all of my grades now and just need to know about graduation. I think that graduation is in December. Does anyone know the date in December when diplomas are awarded? I will need my diploma mailed to the US, as I'm living there now. Does anyone know who I should talk to about that?

    Thanks!

    Linkeh

    It would appear December 10th.

I think you can just contact them when you get your invite to say you won't be turning up.

Not being there means you will graduate in absentia which sounds nearly more impressive than being there!

I wonder when those graduating in December could expect to be receiving details of the graduation?

You just submit your details on this online form.

My MA graduation is that day too (according to the conferring unit website) but I haven't got an information pack from them yet.

Sitstill, if it's anything like the BA graduation you won't receive anything from UCD until about a week before graduation, so don't worry too much.

Hi again, just a question about rankings for graduation. What GPA is needed for first Honors, Second Honors, and to graduate at all? I know I'm safe to graduate, but I'm curious.

Well for an undergrad 1.1 is either 3.6 or 3.8 gpa

What is 1.1? Is that first honors? What's second class honors?

Yeh that first class honours. You need something like a 65-70% average to get a 1.1

    From http://www.ucd.ie/registry/academicpolicy/acad_regs041007.pdf
HONOURS CLASSIFICATION OF TAUGHT GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

    ...

    GPA - AWARD
Greater than or equal to 3.68 - First Class Honours
From 3.08 to 3.67 inclusive - Second Class Honours, Grade 1
From 2.48 to 3.07 inclusive - Second Class Honours, Grade 2
    From 2.00 to 2.47 - inclusive Pass

First Class Honours is sometimes referred to as a 1st or 1.1, Second Class Grade 1 and 2 as 2.1 and 2.2, and Pass as a 3rd.
