I have naturally dark brown hair which i´ve been dying red over the last year. The thing is i heard that blonde can take in a funny way to coloured dark hair. Also the thing is i don´t just want to go blonde....I want to go peroxide !!!! I´m talking White!!!! Is it going to turn out yellow?

I´m actually travelling at the moment and so i wont have to wear hats to work or anything...but i don´t want to look like a wally either.

Anyone any experience with going white?

I really want white hair.. But I also have dark brown hair and I don't really wanna bleach the whole thing because it's fairly long.. So I'm not gonna do it.
But best of luck! It will be coooool =)

red is supposed to be very hard to turn blonde (your hair would have to be blonde before it could go up to white), i'd suggest going to a hairdresser. when i was in school a red haired girl in my class tried to bleach her hair, it turned a pinky shade!

hmm, interesting. I´m actually in argentina and the hairdressers dont have a lot of english...my spanish is doing well, ...but i might be missing vital bits of vocabulary for a specific conversation like that!

PInky does not sound like my kind of thing! If it went pinky would another bleaching turn in white???P

Yea id b inclined to go to a hairdresser if u can manage the spanish :p
I have med brown hair which i dyed black last yr, hard to keep up with the roots so decided to go back, had to get it bleached to get the black out and my roots were lighter than the rest of my hair until it grew out properly

My friend used to have dyed black hair, then she bleached it and it turned orange, so she bleached it again and got a blonde hair color from boots own brand and i must say it looks brilliant. I thought her hair would be dry and brittle looking, but its in good condition. :) So go for it!

oh thats what i wanted to here...still might leave it a week to get the vocab right before i do it!!! Theres still the possibility i might look ridiculous with white hair!!!

Any other thoughts would be welcomed!!! this is a big decison to make!

It's a big move op, I dyed my mousy brown hair platinum blonde a few years ago.
It took a few bleaches to get rid of that orangey colour.
I now colour my roots with Nice and Easy by Clairol, I think it's shade SB1 or SB2, either of them do the job and are not as harsh on my hair.
Every 4/5 months I get my roots touched up by my hairdresser.
Make sure you have time to maintain the colour, also invest in some deep conditioning treatments.
What is your colouring like skin tone wise?

bleach it to get the red dye out then use a toner to make it white.

you will have to bleach it a few times to get it white. but it does work and it cn be done without going to a hairdresser!

I´m brunette naturally and have freckly skin but it tans realy easy and looks kind of sallow then!

It's probably best to go get it done in a hairdressers if you're anxious.
I did it myself without any bother, but do get it done professionally if you're worried!
Blonde can look nice against pale skin, but works with a tan too.
Have you ever tried those online things where you upload a photo of yourself and can try on different hair colours?
Might give you and idea of what to expect!

I found this old post so figured i'd update rather than start a new one.

So i went platinum and havent looked back until now...i love the color but not the 140 a month it costs to get the roots done..plus conditioning treatment etc.

Its so funky and the thoughts of going back doesnt make me happy. I went to the hairdressor supplies today but the girl working there didnt have a clue....can i do this myself? I know my hairdresser uses a lots of toners on my hair and she didnt seem to even sell them

Does anyone know what products i would need????? getting poor and refusing to go back to black!
