Running speaker wire outside and in ?

I need to get speaker wire from one side of my room to the other. One option I am considering is to run the wire outside through the wall in one corner into some conduit, and then along the wall outside and back in through the wall in the other corner.

This option is being considered as popping off the skirting boards runs the risk of them breaking plus the wire run would be quite long (40feet'ish). And going via the ceiling would impact on recent coving which was installed (I know should have thought of this before :rolleyes:)

Any downsides to doing this ?

Other recommendations welcome, although I am trying to be the perfectionist (as the wife keeps telling me) and minimise visible wire.

B and Q have some very nice white and paintable trunking with self adhesive backs for running cables , have a look at those , it may suit , they are about 10mm wide with a flip open lid , and I ran them along the bottom of my coving and they are damn near invisible , the only one that would know they were there would be me.

The blue strip on the picture is a self adhesive foam type sticky back , the pack comes with 4 5 meter pieces of mini trunking with corner joins and T section joins etc. Once they are up they just look like additions to the coving or the skirting , depending whether you go high or low , brilliant stuff , suited me grand anyway , got all I needed for about 25 euro.

Thanks Mathias ! I went with your option, and ran it along the top of the skirting over the weekend. I must say not bad at all. It will definitely do until some major work is being done, when the 'ideal' solution can be put in place. Even the wife is happy with how it looks, so what more can I ask for.
