    Hi,

Am eyeing the new thin wireless keyboards. You can buy an English one or an International English one. What is the difference?

Does either do the quotes properly for Britain & Ireland, i.e. shift+2 = " ?

You can always map certain symbols to whatever keys you want so it shouldn't matter what version keyboard you get. Provided that it's qwerty then you should be grand.

Sounds like the international version for me...

I suppose I could by a blank keyboard and arrange the keys by how pointy the letters are. However I would prefer it if Apple didn't foist US keyboards on the rest of the English speaking world.

Mapping the keys so my Windows keyboard worked right was a PITA back when I got the Mac last year.

    Hi,

Am eyeing the new thin wireless keyboards.

I met one of these recently, didn't like it at all. Felt like a ZX Spectrum from the 80's. If you take my advice and you prefer proper keys then pick up the older Apple bluetooth keyboard, much nicer in my opinion and there are still some available in PC World.

I just use the Mac as an entertainment PC so a tiny wireless keyboard would hit the spot perfectly. I would not use a PC from an MP3 manufacturer for real work :p

In this case no keypad etc. is fine.

He obviously hasn't heard of the Microsoft ZUNE then, mind you - not many have in fairness . Still at least this time M$ didn't steal any ideas for their music player like they did for their operating systems ;)

Welcome to the Mac by the way !

I put the little cheeky tongue out emoticon on it, so that makes it all ok.

On a serious note, I bought a Mac Mini when my (self built) PC had a melt down. Used it for email/browsing until the PC was sorted. I had my eye on one for a while as a living room PC.

    1. The Mac lost its sound hardware a couple of times. It did not think it had any sound card at all. This was annoying for its longer term role as a multimedia PC.

    2. The DVD drive in the mini is dodgy as all hell. One time it swallowed a rented DVD. Luckily Xtravision were sound about it and didn't fine me it was stuck in the Mac.
It then thought it had no DVD hardware what so ever. Because Apple value form over function, there is no mechanical eject for the optical drive. Eventually it saw it and allowed me to spit it out.

Shortly after that, I had my eye on the 2nd gen Shuffle as a lighter alternative to the 30 GB iPod I had. They had an free engraving service, so I thought "Hmm...".

Got my self a Shuffle with the words:
Apple - stick to making MP3 players.

Sure enough, they engraved it as specified, and I have shots of it. I would post a picture, but the level-headed dispassionate Mac fans might DDOS my website :o

Apple Computer were among the first microcomputer manufacturers.

They dropped the "computer" from the name though a while back. So Leopard was late while the iPhone was being developed, because of the new priorities.
