Recently for the first time in a while, sngs have taken over as my preference. Never used sharkscope before the last couple of weeks either but of course had heard about it already. I just use the 5 free searches, mainly just checking out the info it has on me and on one or two of my regular opponents. It's more out of curiosity than anything else. I noticed that Pokerstars had recently banned it, afaik this is the only site that has done so but I might be wrong, anyone know if it's banned anywhere else as i don't want to be breaking any sites TACs.

Have Stars really banned it?. You can still enter usernames on scope and see their stats, so the Stars STT results must still be in a format that can be read by SS. I'd have thought if PS didn't want Scope reading their results that they could encrypt the tourney results relatively easy.

As for us, the player, it might be best just to check peoples stats when Stars isn't open... Though is it technically possible/legal for Stars to know what you have open in Internet Explorer anyway?. I'm not knowlegable about that sort of thing.

How can stars ban sharkscope?? They have no control over what sites you search and what you look at

Party banned me for visiting the Poker-Edge website after a warning when I used the software.

According to this and other info on the net Stars have banned it.

And yes Stars and other sites can check to see what you have open on IE and other applications. You would have agreed to them doing this as it's on their Terms and conditions.

I've also first hand knowledge that Party do this as they gave me a warning for using Poker Prophecy a few years ago (I didn't know it was banned at the time). i had it open in IE at the time. Also I know party used to track mouse movements, my mouse lag got really bad at one point. I had to install Processguard to block the party application from doing this.

Anyway back to original topic. I don't think there is but I'd like to be 100% sure, are there any other sites that ban Sharkscope?

After opening sharkscope a couple of weeks ago a message came up saying stars had banned its use and that sharkscope recommended full tilt as an alternative. Since then i have used both together a lot and have heard nothing since from sharkscope or stars

Just on the point about stars checking what you have open on IE or firefox. If this is true does this mean i wont be able to use stars anymore(when they get around to giving me a warning:)). Pretty much whenever i am on stars i have sharkscope open for pacific or FT aswell. Will they be able to tell whether i am checking star's players or players from other sites?

AFAIK no other sites have banned it.

Edit: Just read your link. According to that it hasnt made a difference anyway so happy days. I dont use pokerdb much so i dont know the ins and outs of it, but it seems strange to me that they haven't banned that aswell.

Ok so it just looks like Stars have banned it. Next question, I'm playing a fair few sngs now, is it worthwhile subscribing to it?
