How about a weekend in Liverpool ? good shopping ,nice pubs restaraunts ,and the Albert dock is nice to vist .Hotel prices vary but are cheaper than most big cities like London. The Adelphi Hotel in the city centre is reasonable and quite popular with irish people.

    Cheers .

Would highly recommend Florence. Can fly direct to Pisa and get the train direct to the City, can walk from one end from the other in around 30 mins. Lots of things to see and do , very pretty.

Heidelberg in Germany is amazing. You could fit a fair amount into the weekend.
