Hey, we are headed down to the SW part of Cork this weekend, but need accommodation, are there any nice towns (within an hours drive) of castletownbere that we could get accommodation in? nothing too extravagent. We want to be just outside castletownbere as a base.
    cheers,

Lots of small places down there but Glengarriff would be nice enough if you don't want to stay in Beara itself, depends on what you want night wise really. Or always Bantry, about 45 mins drive from Beara. Remember if your travelling from Dublin, Fermoy is about half way!

As a prevous poster said, Cork is a big place.

Nothing brings that home more so than driving from Youghal to Dursey Island, (if anyone has ever done it).

It all depends on what you require.
