I think it looks good. Dumping CTU was a good idea (that was getting a bit stale).

What happened to Tony in Day 5? I can't remember if he died/left/vanished?

Tony Alemeida alive? they got some 'splainin to do! He was in an explosion at the start of day 5 which killed Michelle, he was unconscious for most of the season, cant remember who killed him but I remember him dying in Jack's arms.

I agree about dumping CTU, was gettin mighty sick of that place.

I didn't even know the trailer was out, I must be slipping! They usually don't have it until December I think?Anyways, it looks different, Tony could be jack's most formidable enemy yet as he knows him better than anyone.
Glad to see they haven't any Arab terrorists this time, that's been done to death at this stage (no pun intended).

    Tony Tony Tony....

    Looks class! Can't wait!

Just noticed on watching it again that Bill Buchanan is in it, but his hair looks dyed; white or blonde I can't tell.
The plotline for Day Seven looks to me like this:
Tony's gone bad and is going to use all the stuff he learnt in CTU against the United States (how to hack into computers etc.) which will result in things like deliberately crashing planes into one another (as we saw in the clip), maybe stealing money and who knows what else.
Jack, even though under investigation by a Senate committee, will be asked to help the FBI (now that CTU is no more) to help them stop him as he's the only one who knows him really well from their time in CTU together. However the reverse is also true which will result in a tense battle of wills between the Jack and Tony throughout the season.
How am I doing so far?

The first four or five episodes will probably be exciting and interesting, then it will descend into the usual stale crap I've come to expect from 24.

First question was how Tony was alive,ok-I am sure he will come up with something.

But next question is why the hell is he the bad guy? what sense does that make? Even if he had a grudge for whatever reason,5 or 6 years of character development show that Tony wouldn't go suddenly evil and become a terrorist. Let's hope there is a good explanation for that one!

I thought that Buchannan was definately gone?

As for the question above ^^
Who gives a $hit! Just sit back and enjoy!

Based on the crapiness that was last season it is hard to sit back and enjoy. after last season I reckon a lot of people won't bother watching next season. And bringing a character back who was zipped up in a body bag...well,I expect at least a half decent explanation! :p

I completely agree, and judging by the way it seems Jack won't get to talk to him for a while gives the impression they won't explain much for a few episodes

    Couldn't agree more!
But hopefully the big revamp (getting rid of CTU) will mean this series will be a hit!

Jack had him at gunpoint in that clip! It could be taken from one of the later episodes though, they definitely don't have the whole season filmed yet. I assume he got away though.

I assume from the Jack having him at gunpoint that the Tony as villian storyline wraps up pretty early ,as least the first stage of that arc.

Looks excellent, could be best season since 4[wouldnt be hard though] but was just a bit spoiler-ific for my tastes!

The only thing that slightly worries me is that there was yet another "Jack does torture" moment in that clip. This has been one of the commonest complaints about 24 in recent seasons, seems like the new season is carrying on the same theme.

trailer was great, it's really got my juices flowing for Day 7 :)

i dunno how this ''Tony - the bad guy!'' or ''Tony vs Jack'' storyline will go down, it's either going to be inspired or absolute rubbish, i can't see any middle ground

the explanation of how Tony is alive and his dark motives will be vital in how good or bad the reception of series is. remember there are alot of Tony fans out there (like myself!) and its going to take something special to pull off Tony being a believable and hated villain in the league of say Nina or Logan. as always there will probably be another villain pulling Tony's strings and Tony will turn out the good guy at the end of the day! ;)

either way, Tony or no Tony, i'm looking forward to the new setting in Washington, the influx of new and (hopefully interesting!) characters and *fingers crossed* a tight logical storyline that has a start and not a thrown together final half like Day 6, roll on January!

    Agreed.

There will have to be some very special writing to explain just why Tony is back from the dead and fighting America, Jack and all that is great and holy. I'm sure the season will start with a bang (24 usually does).

However, the big question this time (apart from evil Tony) is: can the writers maintain the momentum for the whole 24 hours? If not, expect Jack to get yet another mysterious phone call with a new and even more proposterous threat just as he saved/killed Tony.

Also, good to see Tony's facial hair is still as much an important feature of 24 as Jack's receeding hairline.

I reckon some Government agency faked Tony's death so they could use him covertly and then they screwed him over. This and losing Michelle could have thrown him over the edge. Will be very interesting to see how they explain it.

:( I knew I shouldn't have read this. Boo to me.

I'll just pretend to be surprised at Tony's return.

    Meh.
    The villain's motivation - Die Hard 2 and 4?

    "Because the truth is .. ... I don't."

"Do what ever it takes. Torture him if you have to..." ... "I'm going to enjoy this!"
    More torture...for God's sake.

    Bit lame.

    Meh.
    The villain's motivation - Die Hard 2 and 4?

I watched Die Hard 4.0. Jack and John McLane must be distant relations

1 They are family men whose jobs get in the way of their relationships. They are misunderstood.:(

2 Mastermind terrorists always have a personal vendetta against Jack/John, and take it out on their hot daughters.

3 The terrorists will execute anyone who their employees on regular basis, in effort to appear more threatening. Oooh!

4 Jack/John are both tougher than superman and can dodge bullets, jumps out of fires, survive car crashes and all with little more than a scratch

5 Jack/John both have 'issues', Jack with heroin, John with drink

6 They both have had hair problems as their shows/films progressed

7 Jack/John's bravery is constantly undermined, they would do anything for their country. "I'm just doing my job," they tell us after saving the world. The heroes.

8 Jack even quoted John when he told Fayid to "Say hello to your brother for me" and then strung him up with a steel rope. John said so in Die Hard 3, before killing the brother of Die Hard One's villain.

Who'd win in a fight though?

I don't know but McLane would look cooler in the end!
