B&W gets rid of a lot of distracting noise in the shot. Very nice it is too

B&W ftw. The colour one is a little distracting but the B&W one is spot on.

I always think, if the colour doesn't add anything then try taking it out. B&W for me too, at first I thought colour - but the background colours are too distracting for me.

Yeah... That's what I think also...

    B&W looks better

    I prefer the colour one.
The differently coloured lights help define the background and give it more depth... I think losing this seperation turns the background into a less interesting mish-mash of light and dark.
I like the extra little bit of perspective from the wall in the left of the shot too... makes me feel a bit more anchored and less disjoined/floating in space.
    My 2c anyway

the black and white one is taken from a better angle, you can see more of the bridge and the river looks wider., I do like the colour though, maybe a little more saturated to bring out more detail along the left at the trees etc.,

same photo - just different cropping

Initially, at first glance I liked the colour one. I think this is because of the cropping and the inclusion of the wall at the left hand side leading you into the picture. It helps "tell the story" and guide you towards the subject. I alos like the blue lights on the buildings. However, the bright light in the left hand side doesnt look that appealing.

So, on to the B&W. I love the steam rising off the tall slender building in the middle of the horizon line. Comes out much clearer in the B&W. I also love the better contrast on the bridge. I like seeing extra water and especially the effect on the second decending acrh (from the left). The contrast from that bright light is also better. Can you put up a cropping of the B&W to include more of the wall at the left hand side to lead into the picture better.

    Overall, B&W, but its close.

Also like the shadow line created in the water for the second arch on the B&W. Much clearer.

First I was going to say colour as it is a great shot, particulary like the warmth and the way the trees contrast with the bridge.
As I looked a little longer I found the little green light in the water to the left, the blue lights in the background and the large white light reflected in the water on the right distracting. The B&W solves all of these and looks very well. Good work!

I have shown more wall on the left hand side and also extended the view on the right hand side

The B&W for me as well but the background detail in the colour is slightly more interesting

No question, definitely the black and white.
While the colored one looks good I feel that the bridge is the only main point and that’s it. The background does nothing for me and the sky is noisy which doesn’t help when the back drop is uninteresting.
But the B/W gives the photo so much more, I love the light under the bridge and the reflection off the street lights on the river. It’s a pity the background buildings scream out dullness, but I must say it works better than the color, in my opinion
