    Hi,

Probably a stupid question but how do you claim payment relief for creches? Unsure who to apply to. Thanks:D

There is no tax relief on Creche fees. You do get a €1000 annual early childcare suppliment (paid quarterly) for each child under six.

It's linked to the Childrens Allowance so once you receive CA there is no need to apply, I;m not sure what the payment schedule is but the HSE website will have more info.

    Hope this helps

I think creche relief is one of the things the gov't is currently debating, but there is none in place that I'm aware of. OP - do you have any sources to say relief is available? I'd love to know of it, and I'm sure a lot of other parents would as well.

Not a hope, we have to fund the salary increase for Bertie and the Boys some way you know

It's a tricky one politically, as it would NOT be very popular with the stay-at-home mums who were already hit by tax individualisation.

Payments for every child under 6 was the compromise.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

it is possible to get relief if you pay the creche via salary sacrifice. It works the same way travel passes get relief. Can save you 47% of fees.
Ask your creche about it as most don't advertise it. Bright horizons and Giraffe do advertise that it can be done.

Daddybear - As you're the first to claim such relief exists, could you please provide a source or evidence of this? I'd be interested (as I'm sure many other would) in being able to save a whopping 47% of fees!

employers can provide childcare facilities for their staff and this is exempt from BIK provided the employer actually runs the facility. Not really relevant unless you work for a very large company and even then I don't think many companies are doing this.
