The DVD drive on my iMac is broke and I want to reinstall Tiger ;) Is there anyway that I can create an image, but it on an external HD and boot/install from there? :D

Or perhaps even a network install?

I'm led to believe that if you could get your hands on an external Firewire DVD drive, it'd boot from that. But I've never tried this so I can't verify I'm afraid :(

Use Disk Utilty to restore the image file on to a separate partition, be it on your internal hd or an external firewire hd. I've done this in the past and it works.
