Canon IS lens upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my Sigma 18-200mm zoom to a Canon IS/USM model as I'm keen on the image stabilisation help. My other lens is the 10-22mm USM wide angle and I'd like to keep it to two lenses if possible. That means my zoom needs to be able to have a big enough range (hence the 18mm Sigma). Does anyone have a recommendation?

    So far I've considered:
EF-S 55-250mm IS telephoto - seems good for the price but not USM
EF-S 28-200mm USM zoom lens - little dearer, good reviews but no IS
EF 28-135 F3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens - both features I'm looking for but not sure if 135mm is going to be close enough for zooms

    Thanks guys
Two cameras at the min - 400d and 40d on its way

maybe a 75-300 IS USM? tbh, I wouldnt put too much stock in the 'superzooms'. get a good zoom and a good normal length.

    Whats the budget?

Starting at 70mm might miss out a large gap in range unless I get a third lens or am I wrong?

budget, not sure, I guess if I can stick to one lens it could go up to about 800euro.

I upgraded earlier this year, I went for a
    Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS USM
    and a
    Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM

I think they were about 500-600 each, so I took a few months in between them

That would definitely cover all bases but would prefer to have a wide angle lens and a general purpose/half decent zoom lens. Is there anything that's a good compromise?

I had a SIGMA 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro Lens, I thought it was great value for money at about 200-250e. I moved onto the Canon lens when it was kinda holding me back (at least that's what I say :P )
